Joe Biden is resolute in his determination to remain in the running for reelection, even after conceding to a disastrous debate performance against former President Donald J. Trump.

During a conference call on Wednesday, the 81-year-old affirmed his commitment, stating, “I am running. I’m not leaving. I’m in this race to the end and we’re going to win.”

Amidst reports of “very low morale” among White House and campaign staff, both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris sought to reassure their supporters and donors.

Additionally, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed concerns over Biden’s debate performance during Wednesday’s press briefing, acknowledging that it “wasn’t a great night.”

However, she reiterated that Biden has no plans to resign from office or withdraw from the race.

Jean-Pierre dismissed questions about Biden’s cognitive state, attributing his impaired debate performance to jet lag and fatigue instead.

Following his return from the G7 summit in Europe on June 15, Biden spent eight days at Camp David preparing for last Thursday’s debate with Trump.

“We are in a critical moment right now,” Jean-Pierre emphasized regarding Biden’s rematch with Trump. “Everything is at stake.”

Despite Biden’s unwavering stance on continuing his reelection campaign, opposition within the Democratic Party is mounting.

Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became the first Democrat lawmaker on Capitol Hill to call on Biden to step down on Monday, later joined by Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ).

A New York Times poll released Wednesday reveals Trump leading by six points over Biden among likely November voters, indicating that the presidential contest may be slipping away from the 81-year-old incumbent.

In response to these developments, it is evident that Joe Biden remains determined to pursue his reelection bid despite facing criticism and challenges from within his own party as well as slipping poll numbers against his opponent Donald J. Trump.

During a recent conference call and subsequent press briefing led by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, it was made clear that Joe Biden intends to stay in the race until the end and believes he can emerge victorious despite acknowledging a poor debate performance against Trump.

While reports of low morale among staff have surfaced and calls for resignation have been made by some Democratic lawmakers such as Representatives Lloyd Doggett and Raúl Grijalva, there is an unwavering commitment from both Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to reassure their supporters and donors of their dedication to the campaign.

Furthermore, attempts have been made by Jean-Pierre to attribute Biden’s subpar debate showing not to any cognitive decline but rather jet lag and fatigue following extensive preparations for a critical moment in this election cycle.

However, with polling data indicating a potential slip in support for Joe Biden against Trump among likely November voters according to The New York Times poll released Wednesday, it remains clear that significant challenges lie ahead for the current administration’s re-election efforts despite their public displays of confidence.
