The weekly briefing rounds up five stories driving conversation this week: a confrontational anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis that police shut down, a Seattle police union pushing back at political posturing, Rep. James Comer’s probe touching Ilhan Omar, a chilling disappearance in Arizona, and renewed scrutiny around election integrity tied to Tulsi Gabbard’s investigations. I’ll walk through each item with a clear Republican viewpoint that stresses law, order, and accountability while preserving key quotes and embedded material for context.

#1 – Anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis

The Minneapolis scene tipped from activism into chaos when a so-called “filter blockade” meant to impede ICE drew a swift response from local law enforcement. Protesters boasted they could set up more of these roadblocks with minimal effort, but the local police showed they would not tolerate disruptive choke points that risk public safety. From a Republican angle, this is a classic example of performative protest that inconveniences neighbors and undermines public order more than it advances a constructive policy debate.

Can we laugh at how funny that is? The account says it’s in the Netherlands, but they have a VPN, so I suspect they are in Minneapolis, just using the VPN to shield themselves.

They said that it would take almost no effort to set up another “filter blockade,” and they need to build momentum to have more of them. It’s so dumb, and then the police can rip it down again. ICE can just take a detour around them. So all they’re doing is likely annoying people who have to go through the area, which will turn them off from the anti-ICE effort.

Police action in situations like this restores normal traffic and deters escalating confrontations between activists and federal officers. Republicans favor firm but lawful enforcement against any tactic that threatens public safety or deliberately disrupts daily life. The takeaway is that disruptive theater does not substitute for sound immigration policy or responsible governance.

#2 – Seattle police union pushes back

Seattle’s mayor floated a plan for police to “track ICE,” touching off a blunt rebuke from the local law enforcement union that highlights the danger of political theater in policing. The Seattle Police Officers Guild president answered sharply, reminding leaders that pointing officers at political targets can cost lives. From a conservative perspective, using law enforcement as a tool for political messaging is reckless and places officers in impossible positions.

“Toothless virtue signaling rhetoric like this has already cost two people their lives. The concept of pitting two armed law enforcement agencies against each other is ludicrous, and will not happen. I will not allow SPOG members to be used as political pawns.”

That quote matters because it comes straight from the front lines of public safety and serves as a warning against reckless politicization. Republicans see this as a reminder that elected officials should support police rather than exploit them for headlines.

#3 – Comer’s committee and Ilhan Omar

Rep. James Comer’s post has rattled circles in Minnesota by flagging alleged fraud in state social services and pressing for documents about Ilhan Omar and her husband. The committee frames this as part of a broader investigation into taxpayer-funded programs and potential misuses. Conservatives applaud oversight efforts that follow evidence and pursue accountability regardless of partisan identity.

Comer also mentioned in the first sentence that the committee is investigating the massive fraud that has gone on in Minnesota in the social services in the state.

According to reports, Omar and her husband had previously faced an investigation under the Biden administration, but they took no action, and the pair denies any wrongdoing.

So we’ll have to see what Omar’s husband supplies in response to the request. The next step from here for the committee, if they get no response, would be a potential subpoena.

We see they did hold the Clintons’ feet to the fire when it came to their testimony in the Epstein matter.

Oversight committees serve to protect taxpayer dollars and public trust, and Republicans argue such probes should proceed openly and swiftly where there are credible allegations. If officials dodge cooperation, subpoenas are the tool that keeps investigations honest and thorough.

#4 – Chilling disappearance in Arizona

The Pima County sheriff unveiled a disturbing theory about the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother that shifted the case toward a possible kidnapping. The details reported by investigators paint a picture of an elderly woman gone from her bed in the middle of the night, which naturally alarms any community. From the conservative view, law enforcement must have the resources and latitude to pursue such cases aggressively.

Later in the day, however, Nanos revealed an even more chilling detail, saying that he believed that Mrs. Guthrie was kidnapped while she was asleep in her bed:

The disappearance is very disturbing to the community, Nanos told MS NOW — formerly known as MSNBC on Monday, saying investigators believe she was removed from her house against her will.

“You have an 84 year old lady who is home in bed, asleep in the middle of night (and) disappears,” Nanos said. “That’s not Tucson and that’s not who we are here.”

Nanos also indicated that he had sent homicide detectives to a scene he described as “concerning,” even though there was no body.

“It’s rare for me to call out our homicide team unless we have a body,” Nanos stated during an MS NOW interview.

That level of concern from the sheriff justifies a full, unhurried investigative response and shows why strong local law enforcement is essential to community safety. Republicans emphasize backing cops and detectives to get answers in cases like this.

#5 – Election integrity and Tulsi Gabbard

Renewed attention on 2020 election integrity and Tulsi Gabbard’s involvement has people on edge and critics scrambling to discredit the inquiry. The argument from conservatives is that any credible lead into election irregularities must get a fair, evidence-based look, because the legitimacy of elections underpins every other branch of government. When investigations face aggressive pushback, suspicion naturally grows among those who want transparency.

The very fact that someone is pulling out all the stops to discredit the investigation into election integrity in 2020, and presumably since, is a sign that something very criminal and dangerous happened. It is also a sign that those behind that election, even if they aren’t trying to pull the same trick again in 2026 and beyond, are terrified of what would happen if their machinations came to light.

If our elections are corrupt, that calls into question every action of the government and breaks the bond between “We the People” and the Founders that was created in 1787. It is not difficult to believe that hostile foreign actors are involved, as well as our own self-hating elites. The fact that Gabbard was on the ground for the FBI, serving a search warrant, points to a significant intelligence problem alongside the raw criminality. The reaction indicates there is more of this to come.

Protecting the integrity of elections and restoring confidence in results are priorities for conservatives who believe secure voting and transparent investigations are non-negotiable. The public deserves thorough, impartial fact-finding that leaves no room for doubt.
