Man Named Hitler Mussolini Wins Mayoral Race in Small Peruvian Town

A Peruvian man named Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores has been elected mayor of Queropalca, a small town of 730 people in Peru, after winning Sunday’s election with 34% of the vote.

Flores, 45, ran on the ticket of Ahora Nacion (Now Nation), a center-left party. He received 229 votes, finishing 25 votes ahead of his closest competitor, Gaspar Benilde Osario Zambrano of the right-wing Popular Renewal party. Just 42 votes separated the top three finishers in the race.

According to his candidate declaration form, Flores previously belonged to Popular Force, the right-wing populist party led by Peru’s president, Keiko Fujimori, daughter of former dictator Alberto Fujimori. He resigned from that party in 2025; it is not clear when he joined Ahora Nacion. Flores formerly managed the Simeon Sac Investment Group and says he holds a high school diploma, though it is unclear whether he has any university education.

He is not the first person named Hitler to be elected to office in Peru. Hitler Alba served as mayor of the town of Yungar from 2011 to 2014 and ran again in 2018, when one of his opponents was Lennin Vladimir Rodriguez Valverde. The matchup drew attention online, with commenters calling it “Hitler v Lenin” because of the similarity between Valverde’s name and that of the Soviet founder. Alba campaigned on the idea that he was a “good” Hitler.

“Maybe it’s a coincidence that my name is Hitler,” Alba told the Peruvian news agency Efe. “I really don’t have any objection to Hitler. It’s like any other name. For me, it’s as if my name was Juan, Lucas, or Sebastian.”

Alba won that race with 47.7% of the vote.

Elsewhere, a Namibian politician long known as Adolf Hitler Uunona won re-election to his local seat for the fifth consecutive time in November of last year. He has since dropped the Hitler portion of his name and goes by Adolf Uunona.

“My name is not Adolf Hitler. I am Adolf Uunona,” he told the Namibian. “I have seen in the past people calling me Adolf Hitler and trying to associate me with someone I do not even know.”
