During Sunday’s game between the Detroit Lions and the New Orleans Saints, a sideline official suffered a severe leg fracture following a collision with Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

Video footage of the incident shows Kamara being pushed out of bounds by Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes and subsequently colliding with the official, resulting in him being thrown into the air.

Subsequently, he was seen lying on the ground, exhibiting signs of pain with his lower limb notably displaced from its normal position.

Many online were shocked.

The game was suspended while the official received medical attention.

“A member of the chain crew was injured and will not return,” the NFL said in a statement. “The chain crew will operate with one fewer member for the remainder of the game.”

The Lions defeated the Saints 33-28, increasing their record to 10-3. The loss left New Orleans at 5-7.

The League has not issued a statement on this game.
