The Trump administration has made a significant move by addressing Mexico’s failure to uphold a 1944 water treaty. Texas Senator Ted Cruz has long been vocal about Mexico’s noncompliance, but it was the Trump administration that finally stepped in to support the farmers near the Rio Grande. Cruz emphasized the urgency by stating, “Texas farmers are in crisis because of Mexico’s noncompliance.”

The Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs recently announced that the U.S. is taking action by cutting off water to Tijuana. The bureau highlighted that Mexico’s persistent failure to meet its water delivery obligations is severely impacting American agriculture, especially in the Rio Grande valley. They declared, “As a result, today for the first time, the U.S. will deny Mexico’s non-treaty request for a special delivery channel for Colorado River water to be delivered to Tijuana.”

Senator Cruz expressed his approval of the administration’s decision on social media. “Excellent. As I said yesterday, this option is absolutely what the Trump administration needs to pressure Mexico to fulfill its obligations under the 1944 Water Treaty,” he commented. This decision is likely intertwined with the broader trade tensions initiated by President Trump, who has been pushing Mexico to curb illegal immigration and fentanyl smuggling at the border.

In response, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum warned that a trade war could lead to job losses and increased costs for both nations. Sheinbaum previously mentioned that Mexico’s national water agency and the International Boundary and Water Commission were actively working on the issue. “It is being addressed by Conagua and CILA, which is in charge of reviewing this treaty,” she stated.

Senator Cruz brought up the water treaty issue during a meeting with farmers, ranchers, and Trump administration officials. He pointed out the severe impact on Texas farmers who are suffering due to the lack of water resources. “Texas farmers are in crisis because of Mexico’s noncompliance,” Cruz reiterated. “I will work with the Trump administration to pressure Mexico into complying and to get water to Texas farmers.”

The situation is a clear example of the Trump administration’s firm stance on international agreements. By standing up for American farmers, they are sending a message that compliance with treaties is non-negotiable. This approach aligns with the strong leadership values often associated with figures like Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.

The decision to deny water to Tijuana is seen as a strategic move to compel Mexico to honor its commitments. It underscores the importance of holding countries accountable to their agreements, especially when American livelihoods are at risk. The administration’s actions aim to protect the rights and resources of U.S. citizens.

The administration’s decision may influence future negotiations, emphasizing the need for Mexico to fulfill its obligations. This development could redefine the dynamics of the U.S.-Mexico relationship.

Farmers in Texas are hopeful that these measures will lead to a resolution. Access to water is essential for their livelihoods, and the administration’s actions provide a glimmer of hope. The focus remains on ensuring that farmers receive the resources they need to thrive.

  • I agree that the terms of the 1944 treaty should be upheld but this article does not state the terms of the treaty. I could not vote to support this article until a great deal of more information is presented. Yes, it sounds like Biden word salad.

ANYONE that would vote in favor of this decision would be a fool. We need facts!

  • Mexico is a Marxist, Terrorist Coddling and Drug Cartel Partner along with being deeply infested with Communist China; time to shut that fucker down; as it chop off the head and kill the snake!

When that hellhole turns into a chaotic catastrophe which it will, then they can “push their luck more and end up in a full scale war!”

They’ve “never appreciated one of the many good things America has done for it” and instead has “helped the Drug Cartels/CCP flood our Nation with Drugs” killing hundreds of thousands of Americans each year along with “sending any and all foreign criminals and terrorists including ISIS members” right through our previous “Biden/Harris Porous Southern Border!”

They “should have been kissing America’s ass” for all we did for them, but instead, “they played both ends against the middle to serve their own power trip” and “now the chickens are home to roost!” Go to Hell Mexico!

  • ……..News Flash:

Trump just renamed the Gulf Of California (that does not touch Califoria) to the Gulf Of Fentanyl.

  • Yea Chinese CCP Fentanyl to kill Americans which as I see it is “an act of war!” If the shoe was on the other foot you can bet your bottom dollar China would raise hell against the US! This with all of the “hidden clandestine and in the open CCP OPS” being carried out in America, puts us at war with China and Mexico which is their primary conduit of infiltration! Criminals and Enemies beget more of the same! Anyone that doesn’t see how Communist China America’s foremost enemy wants America to fall is deluded or on drugs! And Mexico is clearly on the side of the Criminals! The Biden/Harris/Obama/Soros administration cemented that deal!
