A committee spokesperson told Breitbart News that the House Oversight Committee has arranged its initial impeachment inquiry hearing concerning President Joe Biden for Thursday, September 28.
“The hearing will focus on constitutional and legal questions surrounding the president’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson informed Breitbart News that, in addition to the hearing, the committee plans to demand Hunter Biden and James Biden’s bank records as soon as this week.
In February, Hunter Biden denied the committee’s request for bank documents and communications, citing the lack of a “legitimate legislative and oversight basis” for the demands.
Despite this, the committee had been threatening to issue subpoenas since it began its investigation in November 2022, asserting they were displaying restraint to “show good faith.”
When House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) began an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden, the “good faith period” apparently terminated, allowing House investigators to use more legal means to make the Bidens adhere to the investigation.
A Reuters poll shows that 41% of people are in favor of an impeachment inquiry, while 35% oppose it and 24% are unsure.
Additionally, a YouGov/CBS News poll found that 50% of independent voters want House Republicans to impeach Joe Biden and a CNN survey revealed that 61% of Americans believe he was involved in his family’s business dealings with China and Ukraine.
