The Washington Examiner reported late last week that former cryptocurrency tycoon and Biden donor Sam Bankman-Fried was taken into custody.

The paper noted that Bankman-Fried’s arrest was ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan, who had revoked his bail on Friday.

A Bankman-Fried, who was formerly a billionaire, has been accused of witness intimidation towards former girlfriend Caroline Ellison.

According to Fox Business, the judge deemed that Bankman-Fried had attempted to “hurt and frighten” Ellison by sharing her personal writings with a New York Times reporter.

Ellison is cooperating with federal authorities and is expected to testify against him.

However, in response to these allegations, Bankman-Fried’s attorneys issued a statement claiming that his actions had been misinterpreted.

“In support of its theory that Mr. Bankman-Fried ‘tampered’ with witnesses, the Government proffers evidence that consists of innuendo, speculation and scant facts,” Fox Business quoted the statement as reading.

“The Government’s showing is a far cry from the evidence presented in cases in this district where remand has been ordered in connection with alleged witness tampering, and in no way supports revocation of Mr. Bankman-Fried’s bail,” it added.

In addition to accusations that he defrauded investors, Breitbart reported last year that Bankman-Fried had also been indicted on campaign finance violations.

Specifically, the indictment asserted that “the defendant, and others known and unknown, would and did knowingly and willfully make contributions to candidates for federal office and joint fundraising committees by a corporation, aggregating to $25,000 : and more in a calendar year, in violation of Title 52, United states Code, Sections 30118 and 30103(d) (1) (3).”

According to Fox News, FTX Bankman-Fried and his family were some of the most prominent donors to Democratic causes in 2022.

Coming in second only to far-left billionaire George Soros, Bankman-Fried donated an impressive $27 million to the Protect Our Future PAC which aimed to elect Democratic candidates.

He also provided funds to the House Majority PAC associated with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Senate Majority PAC connected with Chuck Schumer.
