President Donald Trump addressed a campaign rally crowd in Youngstown, Ohio, on Monday night, hours after federal agents executed a search warrant at the Washington, D.C.-area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. During his remarks, the crowd chanted “deport” as Trump criticized Omar and Minnesota’s Somali community.

Two sources close to the investigation told Fox News Digital the search stemmed from a criminal fraud investigation into immigration paperwork tied to Omar, who was born in Somalia, that was filled out by her late father.

A Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed the search to Fox News Digital: “Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.” The DOJ later described the investigation as “criminal” in nature. Homeland Security Investigations is the principal investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, with a mandate covering cross-border crime, human trafficking, drug smuggling, cybercrime and counterterrorism.

At the rally, Trump made comments about Omar and her country of origin.

“She’s a disaster. She comes in from a country without laws, without police, without military. All they do is shoot each other, and she comes into our country and she says, ‘I have a constitutional right,'” Trump said. “She’s got a constitutional right. She’s telling us about the Constitution and she’s coming from one of the worst countries anywhere on the planet.”

Trump went on to reference “savage Somali gang members” involved in a shooting at a Minnesota high school’s homecoming event last week, and the FBI’s arrest of a Somali immigrant allegedly planning an ISIS-style attack on the Mall of America.

“This is not what we want in this country. We don’t want this,” Trump said, as the crowd began chanting “deport.” “They come from a part of the world that only knows how to kill each other. All they do is kill each other in the streets, and they come into the United States of America and they tell us how to run our country.”

Omar responded on X hours after the search began.

“I’m ok,” she wrote. “Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.”
