Rob Gronkowski’s induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame took an unexpected turn Saturday outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, after former teammate Niko Koutouvides used his speaking slot to recount a 2011 training camp story involving adult toys and the late Aaron Hernandez.
Koutouvides opened with a warning to the crowd: “I’m going to ask all children here, whatever you hear, do not ask any questions after this, OK?”
He then described a conversation he said took place during the 2011 training camp, telling the audience, “So Rob goes, ‘I just got the Jenna Jameson adult toy’, and for those who don’t know, Jenna Jameson, she was like an Oscar-winning actress, OK. ‘And this thing was awful, I got ripped off.'”
Jameson is an adult film actress. As Koutouvides told the story, Gronkowski put his head in his hands, appearing visibly uncomfortable.
Koutouvides continued, saying Hernandez responded with a story of his own: “So hold on, it gets a lot better than this guys. So then Aaron rebuttals, ‘Oh, I got a whole package in college,’ and started to go through the description of each procedure you needed to take in order to be successful. And it included microwaves and oils and all types of stuff. So I’m going into my eighth year in the league, they’re just getting off their two phenomenal rookie seasons, they’re going into Year Two. Remember, this is his phenomenal second year.”
Koutouvides said he questioned why Gronkowski had brought the item to a training camp where players would be living for two and a half weeks. He recalled telling the two players: “Can I communicate something with the two of you? Why are we talking about something that’s prosthetic, right? Outside that door when we get out in two and a half weeks, is everything we want outside that door!” He said the pair replied that the two and a half weeks “feel like three and a half years,” and that he told them, “we’re gonna have a great experience, the three of us,” before adding, “and the rest is history from there.”
Gronkowski cut the speech short once Koutouvides finished, telling him simply, “Thank you very much, you’re done.”

The anecdote drew swift criticism on social media. One user on X wrote: “A player that nobody knows goes up there and talks about Aaron Hernandez and an adult film star while being completely disjointed in telling an uninteresting story. Why was he speaking?”
Another called the speech “horrendous,” while others questioned why Koutouvides had been given a microphone at all. “2 things….what was that speech….and why was Koutivides there?” one user asked. Another added, “Fun fact – not many people even knew who he was.”
