No. 2 Ohio State lost 30-18 to unranked USC on Saturday, and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy wasted no time criticizing Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day in the aftermath.

Portnoy, a vocal Michigan fan, wrote on X that “Ryan Day is trash” and that he’s “torpedoing the program.” He followed the post with a nearly 90-second video breaking down the game.

“Look at this, they’re going bananas at the Coliseum,” Portnoy said, appearing in a Michigan hat and hoodie. “I said to Ohio State fans, I go, ‘Oh, the quarterback’s down. Let’s see how Ryan Day coaches now.’ Nobody likes to see injuries. Let’s see how good of a coach this guy is without the quarterback, and what does he do? For the billionth time, he poops himself, he pees on the leg, and I’m gonna tell you, this USC team? They’re not very good.”

Portnoy went on to criticize USC head coach Lincoln Riley as well, saying, “Lincoln Riley, soft as marshmallow. They don’t have a top-five win since he’s been there, and they just steamroll you guys. They embarrass you guys. They punch you in the mouth, watch you bleed.”

In a separate post, Portnoy wrote: “It makes me sick to my stomach watching USC bully and bruise a once proud Ohio State team. Ryan Day once again totally lost when the pressure is on. YOU HATE TO SEE IT! One day Ohio State fans will thank me for bringing Ryan Day’s big game ineptitude too justice.”

The sniping between Portnoy and Day is not new. Portnoy has previously claimed that Day was behind his removal from Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff” earlier this year.

Ohio State was missing starting quarterback Julian Sayin due to injury, leaving backup Luke Fahey to throw for 260 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Buckeyes trailed by 11 points after the first quarter and by 18 after three quarters, never threatening to close the gap against the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Portnoy’s own team, Michigan, needed a late touchdown drive from freshman quarterback Tommy Carr to escape with a win over 2-6 Rutgers.

Portnoy said in his video that he wants both Ohio State and Michigan to be strong programs for the sake of the rivalry, but called Saturday’s result “disgusting to see.”

“Ryan Day has no answer for the billionth time in a big game, and this isn’t even really a big game because USC stinks,” Portnoy said. “It actually makes me sick to see Ohio State go to the softest team in the country and get bullied like that. It makes me sick to my stomach as a Michigan fan.”

Ohio State has three games remaining before its annual showdown with Michigan, beginning next weekend against Oregon.
