The Philadelphia Eagles’ losing streak reached six games Sunday night after they squandered an early 10-0 lead and fell 27-10 to the Washington Commanders.

Philadelphia opened strong, with Jake Elliott converting a 40-yard field goal and Saquon Barkley scoring on a three-yard run following a Washington turnover. But the Eagles did not score again the rest of the game, as Washington responded with 27 unanswered points behind quarterback Jayden Daniels and kicker Drew Stevens.

Stevens connected on a 56-yard field goal late in the first quarter, Daniels threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs in the second, and Stevens added a 39-yard field goal before halftime to put Washington ahead 13-10.

With Jalen Hurts sidelined, backup quarterback Tanner McKee struggled throughout the night, holding the ball too long, absorbing sacks, avoiding downfield throws and turning the ball over twice. Washington’s defense also stacked the box to limit Barkley, who finished with just 30 yards on 13 carries.

The game turned decisively in the third quarter when Dorance Armstrong strip-sacked McKee and Charles Omenihu recovered the fumble. Daniels capitalized immediately, connecting with Treylon Burks for a 53-yard gain that set up a 25-yard Stevens field goal.

Philadelphia’s best chance to climb back came in the fourth quarter, but mental errors derailed the drive. Elliott appeared to make a 36-yard field goal that would have cut the deficit to three points, but an illegal formation penalty on left tackle Jordan Mailata negated it. Pushed back five yards, Elliott then missed wide right.

Washington sealed the win from there. Stevens added a 42-yard field goal with 3:43 remaining, and cornerback Rasul Douglas intercepted McKee on Philadelphia’s next possession. Rachaad White then broke off a 33-yard run and scored from a yard out with 1:52 left, and Austin Ekeler converted a two-point run to make it 27-10.

Daniels finished the night with 217 passing yards, one touchdown and no turnovers. The loss drops Philadelphia to 2-6 on the season, while Washington improves to 2-4-1 and climbs out of last place in the NFC East.
