Good morning. This quick update pulls together the stories people are talking about as the week winds down and the calendar clicks toward a new year. Think of it as a fast briefing to orient you before the weekend and to flag what might land next week.

Several conservative takes are bubbling up after the holiday. One former Bush administration official cautioned against premature celebration over a recent Supreme Court decision involving national guardsmen, arguing elected leaders should be mindful of optics and precedent. At the same time, critics are noting a familiar theme in the Biden family’s holiday photo, suggesting it reinforces long-standing questions about visibility and leadership.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration’s overt Christmas messaging drew praise from some corners for leaning into traditional holiday greetings and for making government communications feel less constrained by woke norms. Supporters contend that returning to plainspoken seasonal cheer reflects a broader cultural reset and a more confident posture in public messaging.

Across the network, pieces raising alarms about proposed state gun-storage rules and critiques of the cultural elite’s stance on religion and national identity continue to trend. Those stories tap into long-running conservative concerns about overreach, cultural displacement, and elite hubris, and they’re pushing narratives likely to carry into the new year.

Congress is on winter recess until January 5th, which leaves lawmakers with a tight window of 25 days to resolve outstanding appropriations. Given recent gridlock, skepticism is reasonable about whether they’ll finish everything on time. The break does, however, concentrate attention on a compressed deliverable schedule once they return.

President Trump spent Christmas at Mar-a-Lago with family and has remained active despite the holiday. He announced airstrikes against ISIS elements in Nigeria on Thursday, signaling that national defense moves and foreign policy announcements don’t pause for seasonal festivities. Keep an eye for more statements or actions that could surface over the weekend.

Vice President JD Vance and the Second Lady passed along a Christmas wish on X, reinforcing the administration’s continued use of direct social platforms to reach supporters. That style of communication bypasses filtered press cycles and lands messages straight with the base.

On the cabinet front, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer shared a reminder on Christmas night aimed at workers and families, underscoring the department’s outreach even during holiday hours. These smaller touches matter to voters who want to see responsive leadership no matter the date.

The courts stayed relatively quiet on Christmas Day, but the Supreme Court has already issued three opinions this term, none of which shifted the ground dramatically. More rulings are expected soon, and readers should watch for analysis that breaks down what those decisions mean for everyday governance and constitutional questions.

For folks feeling the post-holiday slump, a personal note: it’s normal to experience a little letdown after weeks of buildup. Whether a gift fell flat or time with family was more fraught than festive, a gentle perspective helps—disappointments often contain lessons and openings. Look for practical ways to apply what you learned and plan a brighter start to 2026.

That sentiment comes with a wink: I checked the facts — coal doesn’t literally turn into diamonds — but the metaphor holds. Some rough patches become useful because we treat them as starting points, not endpoints.

To lighten the mood, here’s a little post-Christmas penguin moment for a smile.

  • Quite to the point I add this comment I made elsewhere on this site that cuts to the chase as to what has been happening to America!

Islamist’s and the whole Muslim Political Ideology false religion based on what the evil Muhammad spewed out during his criminal lifetime up until 632 AD when he died and just before doing so declared that God told him Islam is the only acceptable religion to God, and all none believers of such must be converted or be put to death; which makes this Evil Cult Public Enemy Number One to the entire human race, right up there with Communism and Satanism!

This scourge of the planet must be stopped by all available means necessary to the US Government and all other governments which understand this threat and how it cannot be allowed to continue propagating as it already has even here in these United States of America, which is a Constitutional Republic under God that was founded by Christian Peoples for other like-minded people who want to assimilate into the American Culture, and who fully support it!
