I’ll explain what Zohran Mamdani said about “migration” and the Prophet Muhammad, show the historical context of the Hijra he cited, present a Republican perspective on the political implications of framing migration that way, include the original quoted passage in full, and place the preserved embeds where they belonged.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani delivered remarks that tied the Islamic Hijrah to a broader narrative of migration, and he explicitly invoked the Prophet Muhammad as an example of migration gone right. His comments framed Islam as “a religion built upon a narrative of migration,” and he suggested the Hijrah offers moral lessons about refuge and welcome. That framing matters, because language about migration shapes policy and public perception at a time when immigration is a top national concern.

When a public official describes a religious tradition in overtly activist terms, people have a right to scrutinize the political implications. Mamdani’s speech did not occur in a vacuum; it landed amid an ongoing national debate over border security, assimilation, and the cultural impact of large-scale migration. From a Republican point of view, highlighting migration as a central religious virtue raises questions about whether that viewpoint influences policies that affect safety, cohesion, and the rule of law.

The historical Hijra refers to the Prophet Muhammad’s journey from Mecca to Medina in 622, a turning point in early Islamic history. Mamdani cited the Hijra to illustrate how migration can be seen as a moral and communal act, and he quoted Quranic passages in support of that idea. Those religious texts are meaningful to many, but when referenced by an elected leader, they can also be read as signaling how migration should be judged politically and institutionally.

MAMDANI: And I consider my own faith, Islam, a religion built upon a narrative of migration. The story of the Hijrah reminds us that the Prophet Muhammad, (speaks Arabic), was a stranger too, who fled Mecca and was welcomed in Medina. Seura nedal 1642 tells us, “As for those who immigrated in the cause of Allah after being persecuted, we will surely bless them with a good home in this world.

Or as the Prophet Muhammad said, (speaks Arabic), in Surah 1614, “Islam began as something strange, and will go back to being strange, so glad tidings to the strangers.” If faith…

(Applause)

It is fair to analyze how religious narratives are applied in political rhetoric. The Hijra is a deeply significant event for Muslims, but the way a public official invokes it can be interpreted as endorsing a political strategy or worldview. Critics worry that framing migration as a religiously sanctified tactic risks encouraging policies that prioritize ideological goals over border enforcement, legal norms, or cultural integration.

There are concrete historical claims tied to the Hijra and the expansion of early Islam, and those historical episodes are debated among scholars. Some argue the Hijra was followed by political consolidation and conflict as the new community grew, while others emphasize peaceful community-building and protection of persecuted people. In the public square, however, the distinction between religious meaning and political strategy often gets blurred, and that’s where the concern lies.

From a Republican standpoint, the practical question is simple: how do these ideas affect policy? If migration is described in explicitly activist, expansionist, or triumphalist terms, policymakers should be cautious about how such rhetoric informs decisions on asylum, resettlement, and enforcement. Voters expect elected officials to balance compassion with national security and to protect the institutions that maintain stability.

There is also a cultural angle worth noting. The suggestion that migration is a primary virtue within a faith tradition can affect social cohesion if newcomers are encouraged to prioritize communal identity over assimilation into civic norms. Republican analysts worry that celebrating migration without addressing integration, civic education, and respect for the rule of law sets the stage for division rather than unity.

These concerns are not about faith as private belief; they are about how public officials use religious narratives in service of political aims. Public leaders should expect scrutiny when they cast migration in explicitly religious or ideological terms while overseeing systems that regulate who enters, who stays, and how newcomers adapt. Citizens deserve clarity on whether public policy will be driven by strategic considerations or by symbolic appeals.

Debate over this speech will continue, and it should. Elected officials must explain how their moral frameworks translate into policy, especially when those frameworks draw on religious history. Voters must weigh whether those translations protect national interests and preserve the rule of law, or whether they open the door to strategies that prioritize ideology over security and civic order.

  • This fraud is nothing but a servant of Satan! Muhammad was a total fraud and blasphemer having nothing to do with Almighty God but created a political ideology that seeks to conquer all peoples of the world and put them under the control of Islam the non-religion or be put to death!
Mamdani must be taken up on charges and if not incarcerated he must be exiled and banished permanently from America having no citizenship or rights to enter this nation ever again!

    • Muhammad was only a supposed prophet and there is irrefutable evidence in the historical text of the time he lived that points to his being an outright liar and heretic as well as a criminal and child molester along with his being a polygamist! The following statements are highly accurate and actually proven.

“In 632, only months before he died, Muhammad apparently met for the first time with a Christian community as such. An official delegation of Christians, probably led by a bishop, came to Mecca from Najran in Yemen. After engaging the Christians in discussion, the Prophet is said to have realized that Christian teachings are indeed incompatible with Islam, after which the revelation followed that only Islam is acceptable to God as a religion. The Quran also says very specifically that those who refer to Jesus as God are blasphemers, and that Christians saying that Christ is the son of God is an imitation of Jews, who earlier had said that Ezra is the son of God. According to the Quran Jesus was only a servant; Jesus the son of Mary was no more than an apostle of God. Quranic verses dealing with Jesus’ death have been interpreted differently by commentators, but generally they have been taken to mean that Jesus did not die by crucifixion. For Christians the Quran has thus served as a denial of Jesus’ incarnation and death on the cross and of the reality of the Trinity.” (Oxford University Press)

These two points alone put Islam and the Muslims completely at odds with Jesus Christ and all Christians and are the enemies of such! Muhammad himself began this conflict and was the spoiler and Heretic directly attacking God’s plan as foretold by all the previous prophets going all the way back to Abraham. Things have been in conflict because of Muhammad ever since and are getting worse, this will not resolve until Islam is Chastised or obliterated as a fake religion started by a false prophet and therefore heretic! In Summary Muslims are in complete denial of what Jesus Christ said and who He was which makes them Anti-Christ and supportive of the Devil and all that is unholy. Basically Muhammad started this Blasphemy back in 632 AD and outright declared War on Christendom!

  • I disagree, it may have been that many years ago, but now appears to be a case of strategic expansion for Islamic rule!

    • You can disagree all you want but you won’t change the Facts and mountains of historical evidence. Follows of Islam are either insane, totally brainwashed, pure evil or as stupid as a box of rocks.

The truth will set you free.

John 14:5-7 “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

      • BTW still pushing “sharia law” pretty much everywhere they get a foothold and in England or Ireland young white women have been targets of Muslim men who rape, torture and murder many! Canada to our North isn’t far off since former former leader Commie Trudeau flooded Canada with Muslims many of them militant men; Islam spreading like a turbo cancer!

Now you have this muslim sand flea for 4 years. In 4 years you won’t have a city left to live in don’t even think of moving south because we don’t want your dumbasses in our great states. We don’t have the problems that all democrat states have so stay the hell out of our great states. You made your choice to live in it when it crumbles all around you.
