Despite the clear uptick in crime and the public outcry for safety, many left-leaning leaders continue to defend policies that prioritize criminals over the welfare of ordinary citizens.
They’ve embraced the narrative that criminals are an oppressed class and seem to believe that leniency is a form of social justice. However, this mindset has only emboldened criminal behavior, leading to brazen acts of theft and violence in broad daylight.
In some cities, law enforcement is even limited in how they can respond, with certain areas allowing criminals to steal up to a set dollar amount without facing serious consequences.
Former President Donald Trump has been vocal in his criticism of these policies, framing the rising crime rates as yet another reason to vote Democrats out of power.
At a recent rally, Trump offered a controversial solution to the crime wave that predictably drew intense backlash from the left.
While discussing the problem of unchecked criminal activity, Trump suggested that the situation could be resolved with a short, intense crackdown by the police.
“The police aren’t allowed to do their job,” Trump said, pointing to the restrictions placed on law enforcement by liberal policies. “They’re told if you do anything, you’re going to lose your pension, your family, your house, your car. What the hell is going on? They’re not allowed to do it, because the liberal left won’t let them. The liberal left wants to destroy them.”
Trump went on to suggest that a brief but firm show of force by the police could send a strong message. “One rough hour — and I mean real rough — the word will get out, and it will end immediately,” he said.
According to Trump, a swift and decisive response from law enforcement would quickly restore order.

Progressive activists and commentators took to social media to decry the idea, questioning how Christians could support a leader who proposes such measures.

“Mark Houck, the pro-life father of seven who was acquitted Monday in federal court of charges of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, said he is planning to sue the FBI and other authorities following his ordeal.”

The FACE Act prohibits “violent, threatening, damaging, and obstructive conduct intended to injure, intimidate, or interfere with the right to seek, obtain, or provide reproductive health services.”
At the time of the arrest, Houck’s wife, Ryan-Marie Houck, told CNA that “a SWAT team of about 25 came to my house with about 15 vehicles and started pounding on our door.” She added: “They said they were going to break in if he didn’t open it.
