Elon Musk’s America PAC has abruptly halted its daily million-dollar cash giveaway to swing-state voters following a warning from the Department of Justice (DOJ) about potential legal violations.
This initiative, which had been running daily and awarding $1 million to randomly chosen, registered swing-state voters, was part of a campaign launched by Musk to support a petition affirming the U.S. Constitution.
The petition drive did not require signers to commit their votes to any specific candidate but encouraged them to show support for constitutional principles, with the financial incentive drawing attention.
Musk’s team maintained that the giveaway’s purpose was strictly for promoting constitutional awareness, adding that recipients would serve as spokespeople for the petition rather than endorsing any particular candidate.
Musk clarified, “The only thing we ask for the million dollars is that you be a spokesperson for the petition, and that’s it, really.”
However, the DOJ’s attention and subsequent warning came as the initiative faced mounting scrutiny.
The Justice Department expressed concerns that this kind of financial incentive directed toward voters might cross the line into illegal territory under federal election law, potentially influencing the electoral process.
Following this, Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro also publicly urged a thorough investigation into the PAC’s activities.
During an appearance on Meet the Press, Shapiro weighed in on the potential impact of large sums of money entering the political landscape in this manner, sharing that while Musk is entitled to voice his opinions, giving away such amounts of money raised “serious questions.”
Shapiro explained, “Musk obviously has a right to be able to express his views. He’s made it very, very clear that he supports Donald Trump. I don’t. Obviously, we have a difference of opinion. But when you start flowing this kind of money into politics, I think it raises serious questions.”
Since the DOJ’s intervention, Musk’s America PAC has ceased announcing new winners.
According to Mediaite, the PAC awarded million-dollar prizes daily to swing-state residents from Saturday until Tuesday, but by Wednesday, there was no reported winner.
CNN also noted that the DOJ’s warning may have prompted this pause in payouts, which has not resumed as of Thursday.
The incident sheds light on the ongoing debate around election integrity, campaign finance laws, and the boundaries of free speech in political campaigns.
It remains unclear if Musk’s team will pursue further legal action to contest the DOJ’s interpretation or if the PAC will shift its strategy in light of the halted giveaways.
For now, though, the million-dollar petition incentive appears to have come to a halt amidst a wave of legal and public scrutiny.
This is pushing America into full-bore communism!
Sounds like the two tier justice strikes again. I just think that Elon is just smarter than the Radical left elite Marxist Democrats! Now if the Radical left thought of it there would be no DOJ coming after them!! DOJ go after Soros dark money in elections for years and years!
That’s point on Stace. Also the way I see this life and its intrinsic perpetual conflict is that ultimately “evil always destroys itself” one way or another, even if all obvious obstacles in its path for a time fail, there will be the “final judgment;” which it absolutely will be the loser.
Homeless gotta eat too!
So cameltoe paying people to attend her rallies isnt the same thing?
Let’s see now. How much money did Biden and Harris promise and give away to Students who had loans and to other voters who complied with their agenda idiologies? So where was the DOJ when they promised all that taxpayers’ money?
In the back room behind closed doors congratulating them for their camouflaged cheating process!
Better to hqve picked 50 and sent them a signed photo and a 6 pack.!
