The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is making waves with its recent decision to implement an English-only policy across its services. This move aligns with President Trump’s executive order from March 2025, which declared English as the official language of the United States. HUD Deputy Secretary Andrew Hughes explained that this initiative aims to streamline operations and eliminate unnecessary spending on multilingual translations.
Effective immediately, HUD will cease all non-English content on its websites, buildings, and materials. The department has announced that all forms of communication and published materials will now be produced solely in English. According to a report from The New York Post, non-English translation services will also be phased out.
This means any flyers or displays promoting translation services in HUD offices or facilities will be removed. Instead, they will be replaced with English-only versions. The department plans to review and likely terminate contracts for translation services, which some officials believe will save taxpayer dollars previously used to support over 222 languages.
In his memo, Deputy Secretary Hughes highlighted the unifying vision behind the policy. He stated, “We are one people, united, and we will speak with one voice and one language.” This approach aims to deliver on HUD’s mission of expanding affordable housing and revitalizing communities.
Hughes assured that HUD remains committed to accessibility. He emphasized HUD’s continued support for individuals who are hearing or visually impaired, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The initiative is a direct result of President Trump’s executive order, which overturned a directive from the Clinton era.
In 2001, Bill Clinton issued an executive order to improve access to government services for individuals with limited English proficiency. This policy led to costly multilingual bureaucracies under subsequent administrations. However, Trump’s order ended this, focusing agencies like HUD on their core missions without the burden of endless translations.
The Justice Department recently provided guidance to federal agencies on implementing the executive order. Updated rules and opportunities for public comment are expected in about six months. HUD’s decision positions it as the latest department to adopt this America First approach.
The policy does include limited exceptions to comply with laws like the Violence Against Women Act’s nondiscrimination provisions. Nevertheless, the overall shift is seen as commonsense reform. For years, HUD provided services to non-English speakers, including low-income legal immigrants, through interpretation lines and multilingual materials.

Of course its only common sense that anyone that lives in America must peak the standard language which has always been ENGLISH! Ya know even those Ancient Romans knew better with “When in Rome do as the Romans do!”
My bank locally that I’ve been with for decades always had ATM service that required a person using it to be able to use the only menu which was in English! But over the last several years that went to a menu with a dozen languages offered on the screen which is STUPID! Nothing says better, “here is how we destroy our own culture, language and country,” than such a banking machine like that; which is basically stating, “oh well English doesn’t matter here anymore!” The Leftists and Globalists along with the Commies have been working feverishly to bring it all down as they hate America!
