Typically, having a Hollywood actor on “The View” guarantees a comfortable discussion revolving solely around identity politics for the predominantly female hosts.
It becomes even more appealing if said actor happens to belong to one or multiple minority groups.
However, this Tuesday was an exception as the hosts engaged in an interview with a renowned actor who chose not to conform to their left-wing agenda: Billy Dee Williams, famous for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian in the original “Star Wars” trilogy.
Sunny Hostin, the host who was in the news recently for learning some of her ancestors were slave owners, asked Williams about his early career, saying, “So you did start … in the industry at a time when few people of color were on TV and in movies.”
Before she could go on, though, Williams said, “Everybody is a ‘people of color.’” Hostin amended her words to say, “Well, a black man.”
“A brown-skinned man?” Williams asked.
Williams wasn’t done yet, making this interview more captivating than the typical episode of “The View.”
Hostin soldiered on, asking, “Early on you struggled to find work, being offered either stereotypical roles or nothing at all. … Did you ever think about quitting, and if you didn’t, what kept you going?”
“You just live from moment to moment,” he answered, “and do what you have to do and expect things to not always go your way, and you just find ways to be innovative, and you find ways to counter whatever you’re up against and move forward.”
Later, Williams got in a somewhat politically incorrect joke, asking the hosts, “What’s that phrase, the gender phrase?” Joy Behar eventually hit on “gender-fluid,” with Williams saying, “My daughter got very excited about that.”
When asked why, he quipped that it was “because she’s a liberal.”
WATCH:
What makes this interview truly remarkable is not only Williams’ ability to make light-hearted comments about a sensitive topic in liberalism but also his refusal to be enticed into a narrative that portrays him as a victim based on race.
In today’s society, there are instances where highly privileged individuals (as the left often describes them) unjustly cry racism when their movies fail to resonate with viewers. However, Williams chooses to focus on the importance of hard work and adaptability instead.
Contemporary liberals seemingly expect everyone to cater exclusively to their needs, whether it involves compensating for historical injustices through reparations or allowing men dressed as women access to the same restrooms as young girls.
However, Williams takes a different stance. He does not believe in being handed roles based on his race and instead believes in working hard until his abilities speak for themselves.
On the other hand, individuals like Sunny Hostin tend to view everything through the lens of race, dividing the world into “oppressors” and “oppressed.”
Williams disagrees with this mindset and emphasizes the importance of hard work and determination for success in any field.
Rather than promoting a narrative of victimhood that strips individuals of control over their own success or failure, Williams champions the idea of taking charge of one’s destiny.
Williams’ courage to challenge this narrative while also poking fun at gender ideology made for an intriguing episode of “The View.”
God, that was disgusting. What a bunch of frauds. Mr. Williams was great.
By-the-way, shouldn’t Hostin get cancelled or with any integrity she would cancel herself for being part of the slave trade.
I don’t watch the View and when I seen the comments on the website I was elated that Mr Williams did not fall for the stupid rhetoric that those females tried to catch him on.
Mr Williams is a professional and it was some cheap, ignorant females that tried to get him to admit to something he didn’t like.
I totally agree with you John. I do think most of what Mr Williams said was lost on the View. He was great, and he believes as we do that he had his success because of Merit. He worked for it.
Bravo Billy Bravo Hooray
Hostin were you oppressed in finding work? I don’t think so, you got the job because your black which probably mean your not qualified for the job as it means Winfery isn’t qualified too…Both of you got your jobs due to affirmative action….So you and Winfrey oppressed a person of different color…..
When is that nasty disgusting bunch of Anti-American Communist ugly bunch so called women going to be canceled, all they ever talk about is how bad President Trump is for the Country and the race baiting and oppressed bullshit is way out of hand.
Billy Dee Williams did a great job on Hostin getting him to praise the woke ass bullshit snowflakes.
And Behar and Whoopi look like they were swallowed by a shark and spit back out, Geez their ugly.
But that’s what hate and Communism does to a person’s face.
that is still what I am wondering. they are horrible. and just ugly inside and out.
These vile Zionists are bent on creating hatred & division in order to divide & conquer. We could care less about race & skin color……. We are all color blind & banding together to expose the bad guys. The synagogue of satan is on meltdown mode!
I still cannot believe anyone with half a brain would watch these smelly hags on The View. I’d rather watch paint peel on a park bench than spend 10 seconds watching stupidity at its best.
I agree. Paint pealing is more intersting – the designs it makes against the wood. Never watch the View on purpose. I had to take care of an old lady who loved the View but she was an LBGQT. That was when it didn’t matter about such things – like before old buzzrd ears? You just ignored things you didn’t think were right or that you didn’t agree with and carried on, doing your job to the best of your ability.
good for him. send those horrible women away
I don’t care what color a person if. I judge a person on how well he did his job. He was in Brians song and did a great job. The movie brought tears to the eyes.
I just heard a survey which showed that “woke” people are less happy than us normal people. Not very surprising, is it? Just look at these bimbos or the “commentators” on CNN or MSDNC!
Wouldn’t it be great if those hags all developed inoperable brain cancer. Then they would have something to complain about. And we would be entertained by watching their brains rots as their quality of life disappears.
The View is a worthless clown show. Thank you Billy Dee for displaying that fact. Forst and foremost Whoopee is worth 60 millions and Hostin 3 million. How’d they get it….by working for it as have many more like Billy Dee….and there are many more of ALL races who’ve done so. All it demonstrates is The View is a bigoted clown show.
Billie Dee’s only truth that he didn’t state is the View personel are just another of Satan’s covens
