China’s expanding influence in the Bahamas has raised concerns about its potential impact on U.S. security, according to experts. The nation has been making strides in diplomatic, economic, and even military areas within the Caribbean and surrounding regions for over two decades. Retired Rear Adm. Peter Brown, a former Homeland Security advisor to President Donald Trump, cautioned about these developments during an interview with Fox News Digital.

Brown highlighted the increase in dual-use infrastructure projects along the Bahamas coastline, which is a mere 50 miles from Florida. These projects could enable China to monitor and exploit the U.S., he warned. The proximity of these developments to American shores is a point of concern for security analysts.

One such project is the Chinese-controlled British Colonial Hotel in Nassau, located directly across from the U.S. Embassy. Brown suggested that the hotel’s location could facilitate intelligence gathering on U.S. personnel. The possibility of electronic surveillance equipment being installed in such strategic locations is not far-fetched, he noted.

The hotel is owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, a Chinese company, which has raised geopolitical concerns due to its location. Fox News Digital reached out to the hotel for comments on these concerns. China’s investments in the Bahamas extend to various high-profile projects.

These investments include a $40 million grant for a national stadium and a $3 billion mega-port in Freeport. Additionally, $40 million was allocated for the North Abaco Port and Little Abaco Bridge. China’s financial involvement in the Bahamas is substantial and strategic.

In 2019, Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas, creating opportunities for foreign aid and investment. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had warned that China could use this crisis as a means to gain a foothold near American shores. Rubio’s concerns were published in a Miami Herald op-ed.

The Bahamas also plays a crucial role in U.S. military operations and space launches. Brown pointed out that the U.S. Navy’s Autech facility conducts significant submarine and anti-submarine warfare work in the region. The islands are also under key space launch paths.

The strategic importance of the U.S.-Bahamas relationship cannot be overstated. Brown emphasized that a strong relationship with the Bahamas enhances U.S. security. Detecting and addressing issues early on the Bahamian side of the Straits of Florida provides mutual benefits.

From an economic perspective, the Bahamas gains significantly from trade and tourism with the United States. Brown noted that maintaining a good relationship is in the mutual interest of both nations. This partnership helps ensure economic prosperity and security for the Bahamas and the U.S.

As China’s presence in the region grows, the U.S. risks losing influence if it does not remain the Bahamas’ primary ally. Brown stressed the importance of being the Bahamas’ best friend. The alternative could see China stepping into that role, which is not desirable for U.S. interests.

The U.S. must prioritize its relationship with the Bahamas to prevent China from gaining a strategic foothold so close to American shores. The stakes are high, and the geopolitical landscape is evolving rapidly. The U.S. needs to remain vigilant and proactive in its foreign policy.

By strengthening ties with the Bahamas, the U.S. can safeguard its national security and economic interests. The partnership offers a platform for collaboration on various fronts, from military to economic initiatives. It is crucial for the U.S. to maintain its influence in the region.

The situation calls for careful navigation and strategic planning. The U.S. must continue to engage with the Bahamian government and support its development needs. This approach will help counterbalance China’s growing influence in the region.

The U.S. has a history of strong diplomatic and economic ties with the Bahamas. These ties provide a foundation for cooperation and mutual benefit. The relationship should be nurtured and strengthened to address current and future challenges.

In conclusion, the rise of Chinese influence in the Bahamas is a significant concern for U.S. policymakers. The proximity of these developments to U.S. shores makes it imperative to act decisively. Ensuring that the U.S. remains the primary ally of the Bahamas is essential for regional stability.

The U.S. must remain alert to the geopolitical shifts occurring in its backyard. By reinforcing its partnership with the Bahamas, it can safeguard its interests. This strategy is vital to maintaining the balance of power in the region.

  • What a bunch of Idiots and A-Holes that have been in control along with a “POS Mass Media,” all serving their self-interests and not that of the American Citizens! They’ve all been figuratively wiping their asses with the “U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights” while they hug foreign Invaders and Murderers!

What about the “Highly Advanced Surveillance Facility” that was recently built by China’s CCP with accompanying “Military Assets” stationed there, right off the U.S. Coast in Cuba!!! Nothing said or done about that in over a couple of years, so are they waiting for the attack to actually happen with a massive EMP or even worse before these “Useless Garbage Scow Officials” actually wake the hell up and make a difference; or as usual counting all of their stolen loot while selling their souls takes precedent over anything; even the destruction of America!!!

Isaiah 5:20-21 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who turn darkness to light and light to darkness, who replace bitter with sweet and sweet with bitter. 21Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.”

  • Such reports are like saying the fox was released into the the hen-house as the hens are being shredded; and only recently a bit of clamoring about how the CCP has been gaining control of the Panama Canal! What have these clowns in Washington been doing besides holding their heads up their asses while they count all their hidden ill-gotten gains? Jack is what they’ve been doing!
