Republican Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is not one to shy away from a fight. On Thursday, she took the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) head on in a lawsuit.

At the center of the dispute is a 2015 revised ozone standard issued by the EPA which required each state to develop their own implementation plan (SIP) for meeting air quality standards. One provision, known as the “Good Neighbor” requirement, mandated that states must prevent emissions from contributing to other states failing to meet their respective air quality goals.

In 2019, Arkansas proposed an SIP that was based on the best available data at the time, and which complied with EPA guidance in effect under the Trump administration. However, as recently as this week, the EPA formally rejected Arkansas’s SIP claiming it did not adequately protect against emissions from Arkansas causing neighboring regions such as Dallas/Ft. Worth and Houston to fail in meeting air quality targets.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded strongly to the EPA’s disapproval of her state’s plan saying that they are threatening “dozens of Arkansas businesses and thousands of Arkansas jobs” with their big government overreach. She further noted that during her inaugural address she promised to push back against federal interference in her state, and now has asked Attorney General Griffin to sue the EPA on behalf of Arkansans who may be harmed by these decisions.

The Governor’s bold stance shows just how determined she is when it comes to protecting her constituents from what she sees as unwarranted federal meddling into local affairs. Not only does Gov. Sanders intend to see this case through court but she also hopes that it will serve as a warning for any future attempts by agencies like the EPA to override state authority without due cause or consideration for local interests and industries.

On top of that, she’s been talking on the public education system as well. Fox News reported,

Republican Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday her reform plan represents “the biggest overhaul” in U.S. education after her office unveiled a sweeping proposal that includes the elimination of critical race theory in the classroom, teacher wage increases and the expansion of school choice.

Earlier this month, Sanders’ office formally proposed legislation to the Republican-controlled state legislature, called “Arkansas LEARNS,” as one of her first major pushes since taking office as the nation’s youngest governor. The bill, if passed, would increase the current base salary for teachers from $36,000 to $50,000, which would rank Arkansas 4th highest base-salary for teachers in the nation. The measure is also aimed at broadening school choice, with the goal of adopting full universal choice for all Arkansas families by school year 2025-2026 and seeks to eliminate any CRT or “indoctrination” in curriculum.

“We want to make sure we’re empowering parents by giving them educational freedom accounts to allow them to make the best decision about where and how their kids should be educated,” Sanders said on “The Story” Tuesday. “No child should be trapped in a failing school just because of their zip code or their parents’ bank account.”

She’s got her hands full, but is doing all the right things. Don’t mess with Governor Sarah!

  • That’s crazy! Unless winds were to blow out of the northeast, which is rare, I hardly see how Arkansas emissions could effect Dallas or Houston.

  • I am creating an honest wage from home 1900 Dollars/week , that is wonderful, below a year ago I used to be unemployed during an atrocious economy. I convey God on a daily basis. I used to be endowed with these directions and currently it’s my duty to pay it forward and share it with everybody… ????????????????.?????????.???

  • Jan 6 as well as the destruction of historical memorabilia around the Country is disgusting it is exactly what the Afghanistan Taliban did in their country, now we have an American Taliban doing the same thing. If they attempt to do damage to Mount Rushmore the US military should be called up with orders to shoot anybody getting near the monument.

    • You need to do some more reading. Jan 6 was  pre-planned and organized by the democrats. Yes I understand that “some” did damage that they rightfully should be accused of and prosecuted for. The main event was all done and executed by the capitol police and some are now coming forward and stating that they were setup. Ashli Babbitt should never had been shot in cold blood by the coward police chief. She was cought in a croud of people all being pushed into the door and window with no place to go and this hero coward shot her point blank without a word. This women did nothing to this cop and had nothing to harm him with, all she wanted was to get out. When you do get to see the tape someday you will see that the crowd was being pushed by the Pelosi police into that doorway and window. Just part of the setup. This chief got a good raise in pay and retired. Gee I wonder was he that much of as hero to Pelouisi ???

    • When President Nixon agreed to the establishment of the EPA in 1970 he admitted it had the potential to be misused in the hands of the wrong administration. Truer words were never spoken.
