Actor Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, gathered with family and close friends over the weekend for a private celebration of life honoring their daughter, Fiona, who died by suicide on Sept. 29 at age 13. Sources told People that only family and close friends attended the service.

In a statement given to Page Six following Fiona’s death, the family said they were “deeply heartbroken” by the loss.

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

Fiona is survived by her parents and her two sisters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Mabel wrote a tribute to her sister on Instagram shortly after the death.

“I love you so much fiona ❤️ i wish your short time here was easier and i hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, i hope you knew just how much.”

Weeks after Fiona’s death, a family friend said the teen had been deeply affected by the loss of the family’s home in last year’s Palisades fire. Mykesha Robinson, a music executive whose daughter Faith was Fiona’s best friend in elementary school, told the Daily Mail earlier this month that “something happened when the fires happened,” noting the family “lost everything.” Robinson described Fiona as a “ray of light” who “would go up and talk to anybody.”

The Lowe-Painter family made their first public appearance since Fiona’s death at the wedding of Matthew Lowe, son of actor Rob Lowe and nephew of Chad Lowe, held in Santa Barbara, California. Exclusive photos obtained by Page Six showed Chad Lowe seated next to Mabel, with Painter and Nixie nearby, surrounded by family and other guests at the event.
