Tom Brady will step into Gillette Stadium this Sunday not as a player but as a broadcaster, calling his first New England Patriots game since retiring from the NFL. Brady will be in the booth as the Patriots, at 5-3, host the Green Bay Packers, also 5-3, at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.

Brady spent 20 seasons with the Patriots, starting at quarterback for 19 of them, and left the franchise as its all-time leader with 74,571 passing yards, 541 passing touchdowns and 219 regular-season wins. He helped the team win six Super Bowls, in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2018, before finishing his career with three seasons in Tampa Bay, including a Super Bowl title in his first year there in 2020.

Brady joined FOX as the network’s lead NFL analyst in 2024, pairing with longtime play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt. Sunday’s game will be his 50th broadcast for the network, combining regular season and postseason assignments, but the first one from Gillette Stadium, where he built much of his legacy.

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye addressed Brady’s return during a press conference on Wednesday.

“It’s obviously cool. What a legend to come back here, and it’s definitely cool for him, I bet, to come back and call a game in the stadium where he won so many games and was elite in this stadium, and really part of him, the fans, and their teams built Gillette into what it is now, so I bet it’s cool for him,” Maye said.

“I know he hangs around the field sometimes, so just try to go appreciate him for what he left here.”

Maye, a runner-up for the 2025 NFL MVP Award, has steadied the Patriots after a rocky start to the season. Through the first three games, he threw six interceptions combined and posted a 58.6 passer rating. Since then, over the Patriots’ last five games, he has thrown for 1,398 yards and 14 touchdowns against just two interceptions, with a 122.2 passer rating and a 68.8% completion rate. He has also rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns in that stretch.

New England has won four of its last five games heading into Sunday’s matchup against a Green Bay team sitting at the same 5-3 record.
