NBC’s reality competition “The Traitors: New Blood” lost three more players across two episodes aired this week, continuing a pattern of weekly eliminations through murder and banishment votes.
The season’s Traitors, Joe Vanella and Tomica Adams, had tasked two Faithfuls, Xavier Scruggs and Katie Fites, with retrieving death warrants from a public space in an attempt to be recruited into the Traitors’ ranks. Host Alan Cumming had explained that any player who failed to retrieve a warrant would be eliminated, while success by both would leave the choice of who to recruit up to Joe and Tomica.
Episode 3 opened with both Xavier and Katie successfully presenting their death warrants. Faced with two qualified candidates, Joe and Tomica recruited Katie into the Traitors and murdered Xavier instead, reasoning that Katie would draw less suspicion from the other players as the game continued.
The episode ended before the Roundtable vote concluded, leaving the outcome to carry over into Episode 4.
At that Roundtable, the group voted to banish Arisa Thomas, a dog groomer from Los Angeles. Her banishment followed scrutiny over what was described as a “shady” handholding exchange with fellow player Victor Vollbrechthausen in the days before the vote.
Episode 4 then opened with another murder: Logan Smith was killed by the Traitors after he had named Katie as a suspect based on information he said he received from Xavier before Xavier’s death.
That accusation may not be finished causing trouble for Katie. Her name is reportedly expected to come up again when the next Roundtable vote opens the show’s fifth episode, raising the question of whether the Faithfuls will finally identify and remove a Traitor from the game.
“The Traitors: New Blood” airs Thursdays on NBC, with episodes streaming the following day on Peacock.
