Matthew Stafford now holds an NFL record he likely wishes he didn’t. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback threw the 33rd pick-six of his career Sunday night in Denver, surpassing Brett Favre’s previous mark of 32, as the Broncos beat the Rams 30-26 at Mile High.
The record-breaking interception came with 4:49 left in the fourth quarter. Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga jumped a pass intended for Kyren Williams and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown, turning a 19-16 Rams lead into a 23-19 Broncos advantage.

The turnover came right after the Rams had clawed back into the game, stopping a second-half surge from Denver to reclaim the lead. Stafford, the reigning NFL MVP, then answered the score as the two teams traded points late. But the game ended on another Hufanga interception, this one in the end zone on the final play, sealing the Broncos’ 30-26 win.
Stafford, 38, has built a career full of clutch fourth-quarter performances. This time, the history he made came at his team’s expense.
