Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair, 77, was reportedly taken to a Tampa-area hospital after falling outside a bar, according to TMZ.
TMZ reports Flair was at a Tampa bar, walked outside, and fell, injuring his face and possibly suffering a concussion. The outlet says he cut his head and eye, which was bleeding, and was loaded into an ambulance.
Tampa Fire Rescue confirmed to OutKick and Fox News Digital that it responded to a fall outside the establishment and transported an adult male to a local hospital. The department did not confirm the patient’s identity, citing HIPAA guidelines.
The reported fall came just hours after Flair announced on X that he would be unable to attend a scheduled appearance in Seattle because of a blood clot in his leg.
“My Doctors Have Limited My Travel To 3–4 Hours. Seattle Falls Outside That Range, And As Disappointed As I Am, I Have To Put My Health And Recovery First. Blood Clots Are Extremely Serious And Can Be Life-Threatening,” Flair wrote. “We Have Seen This Recently With Jalen Hurts And The Complications Involving Blood Clots In His Lungs. It Is A Reminder That This Is Not Something To Take Lightly, And I Must Follow Medical Advice.”
Flair said he is scheduled for surgery on the affected vein, which his doctors expect will clear him for more travel afterward.
“Please Know This Decision Was Not Made Lightly. I Am Truly Sorry For The Inconvenience And Disappointment, And I Am Incredibly Grateful For Your Patience, Understanding, And Continued Support. I Look Forward To Getting Healthy And Seeing You All Down The Road. Thank You For The Love And Support,” he added.
Flair has long dealt with health and alcohol-related issues. His so-called “Last Match” came in 2022, a tag-team bout alongside his then-son-in-law Andrade against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal; he later said he passed out twice during that match. He made his All Elite Wrestling debut in 2023 and appeared in Sting’s final professional match at AEW Revolution.
Over his career, Flair held the WCW world heavyweight championship eight times, the NWA world heavyweight championship nine times, and the WWE championship twice. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 as a singles competitor and again in 2012 as a member of the Four Horsemen.
