The Los Angeles Rams overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 on Sunday at a rain-soaked Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, snapping a four-game losing streak to the Eagles and pulling the team back to .500 at 2-2.
For three quarters, the Rams looked like a team unraveling. Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw two interceptions, one to Andrew Mukuba on the opening drive after overthrowing Konata Mumpfield, and another to Cooper DeJean when he passed up an open Tyler Higbee to throw deep for Puka Nacua. Special teams gave up a 41-yard punt return by Britain Covey that turned a 51-yard Ethan Evans punt into a net gain of just 10 yards. Kicker Harrison Mevis missed a 48-yard field goal attempt wide left.
Philadelphia built its lead on two touchdown passes from Jalen Hurts to Darius Cooper, the second following a pass-interference penalty on Trent McDuffie. Los Angeles’ lone first-half score came on a jet-sweep handoff from Stafford to Nacua, who was playing his first game since Week 1 after missing two games with a hip injury.
Trailing by 10 entering the fourth quarter, the Rams’ defense turned the game. With Philadelphia facing third-and-goal from the 2-yard line, Hurts bobbled the snap and was forced to scramble for no gain. On the following fourth down, Rams pass pressure forced an errant throw intended for Cooper, turning the ball over on downs.
Los Angeles then drove 98 yards down the field, finished by Kyren Williams powering in from a yard out to cut the deficit to 20-17. After the Rams defense forced another Eagles punt, Williams scored again on the ensuing drive, giving Los Angeles a 24-20 lead it would not relinquish.
Williams finished with 80 rushing yards and 10 catches for 66 receiving yards to go with his two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Philadelphia went 0-for-12 on third down for the game, while the Rams converted 7-of-16.
Nacua’s return also provided a lift beyond his touchdown, including a juggling 28-yard catch down the sideline on a throw from Stafford.
The win moves the Rams to 2-2 and ends a four-game skid against the Eagles dating back to 2023. Los Angeles returns home to SoFi Stadium to face the 3-1 Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
