Missouri’s ongoing redistricting battle took a sharp turn this week when the state Supreme Court held Secretary of State Denny Hoskins in contempt, while simultaneously finding that he had purged that contempt by complying with the court’s order to revert to the state’s older 6-2 congressional map.
The dispute traces back to 2022, when Missouri operated under a 6-2 congressional map. In 2025, the state legislature approved a new 7-1 map in the middle of the decade. The group “People Not Politicians,” along with other plaintiffs, sued to block the new map. The Missouri Supreme Court ultimately ruled that the legislature was permitted to redistrict mid-decade and that the districts were lawful, but the fight over implementation and compliance has continued in court.
Adding another layer, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals has now stepped in, announcing it will hear the constitutional claims in the case on an expedited basis.
Vance Heads to Kansas City
Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to visit a federal law enforcement facility in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday, where he will deliver remarks on the Trump administration’s crackdown on fraud.

Trump’s 9/11 Observance and Trip to Ireland
President Trump began Thursday in Washington, D.C., where he was set to participate in an observance ceremony at the Pentagon marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. FBI Director Kash Patel also delivered remarks via video to mark the anniversary. Later in the day, Trump was scheduled to travel to Ireland.
