A man who sprinted onto the field at Yankee Stadium waving a Palestinian flag during a Yankees-Mets game commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks has been identified by police as Kelly Marcucci, 38, of Long Island.
The New York Police Department confirmed Marcucci faces misdemeanor charges of interfering with a professional sporting event and trespassing, according to the New York Post.
Police say Marcucci jumped from the stands and ran onto the field during the seventh inning of Friday night’s game, around 9:11 p.m., before stadium security tackled him in center field. Fans in the stands began chanting “USA!” as he was detained.
Hours before the incident, Marcucci posted a lengthy Facebook message touching on capitalism, Zionism, Saudi Arabia and the September 11 attacks, and referencing President Donald Trump and podcaster Joe Rogan. He later posted a video from inside the stadium showing himself in a personalized “K. Marcucci” Yankees jersey with “No Kings” printed on the front — a phrase associated with demonstrations against Trump.
Marcucci’s social media profiles describe him as a journalist and “spiritual tactician” and say he graduated from Stony Brook University. His Instagram account features posts referencing conspiracy theories, Jeffrey Epstein, and videos featuring commentator Candace Owens.
Ahead of New York City’s 2025 mayoral election, Marcucci had posted what he called a spiritual reading of candidates Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mamdani.
“It’s not just about left vs. right. It’s not just about two candidates. It’s about what kind of energy is being installed over New York City,” Marcucci wrote in an Instagram post, according to the New York Post.
His Instagram also links to an inactive OnlyFans profile Marcucci said he created “as a joke.” That profile’s bio reads: “Politically, I identify as a revisionist-Marxist, and the core values of this expression are very important to me.”
Marcucci told the New York Post afterward that he loves the United States and considers himself “an ally to the Jewish cause.”
The stunt, occurring during a game meant to honor the victims of the 2001 attacks, drew heavy criticism online, with many accusing Marcucci of disrespecting those who died.
