Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) said Thursday that the left-wing base of the Democratic Party is “embracing assassination culture,” making the claim during an appearance on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
Watters opened the segment by asking Luna whether the Democratic base, which he characterized as wanting “executions,” would get its wish following recent election results.
“No executions, but unfortunately, Jesse, you know all too well that the radical left is embracing assassination culture, and I wasn’t kidding when I said that these people that have infiltrated the Democratic Party, they hate this country,” Luna said. “They hate people like you and me. They hate a majority of Americans that believe that we are the greatest country in the world. They hated Charlie Kirk.”
Luna said voters who backed Democratic candidates in the most recent election were “frustrated this past week, understandably so,” but warned that “the people that have now been elected are pretty bad news, and you’ll see that unfold in the next two years.”
Watters followed up by asking whether rhetoric from media figures on the left who he said are “laughing at death” and “calling for death” is shaping the behavior of elected Democrats.
“Yes, in fact, there is a majority of elected Democrats, especially right now, that have been targets because they are not progressive enough,” Luna said. “What I would tell you is it’s a very dangerous time to be an elected official, especially because of social media.”
Luna argued that much of the online vitriol traces back to the radical left, and said lawmakers who campaigned as moderates often have financial ties to Democratic-aligned groups.
“I don’t know anyone across the country that didn’t have some form of tie that was funded by the Democrats to, you know, Soros-funded organizations,” she said.
She went on to tie what she described as foreign influence operations, including links to the Chinese Communist Party, to organizations such as the Democratic Socialists of America.
“That still is alive and well, and so what we’re seeing is multifaceted,” Luna said. “You have people online, paid bot operations, and then you have these well-funded machines and organizations that are tied to foreign money.”
Luna represents Florida’s 13th Congressional District.
