The Baltimore Ravens will take the field in Atlanta on Sunday without quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been ruled out for the Week 5 game against the Falcons because of an ankle injury he suffered in Baltimore’s Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Backup Tyler Huntley will make his first start of the season in Jackson’s absence. Head coach Jesse Minter expressed confidence in the move. “We have a ton of confidence in [Huntley] to play really well,” Minter said. “I think everyone on the team is excited to see that.”

Jackson’s ankle issue did not require long-term treatment, but his availability for this game had been uncertain in the days leading up to kickoff.

Baltimore’s offense has already absorbed other injuries this season. Wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane fractured his wrist in Week 1 and remains on injured reserve, while fellow receiver Zay Flowers has since returned from a hamstring injury.

The Ravens face a Falcons team coming off a 45-24 blowout win over the New Orleans Saints. Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed 15 of 20 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown in that game, while running back Bijan Robinson rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

Huntley has a 5-6 record across 12 career starts in his six seasons with Baltimore. His most recent start came on Jan. 4, when he guided the Ravens to a 41-24 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Minter, who is 3-1 as head coach, will be calling his first game without Jackson under center. A win would push the Ravens to 4-1 on the season.

Huntley has history against Atlanta: the last time the two teams met in the regular season, in 2022, he started for Baltimore and led the Ravens to a 17-9 victory. This time the game is on the road, with kickoff set for 5:15 p.m. ET Sunday.
