New York Attorney General Letitia James is setting her sights on the Trump administration once again, as she prepares to take legal action over its recent decision to pause certain federal grants and loans. James, a persistent figure in legal challenges against former President Donald Trump, claims that the administration’s move breaches the Constitution and risks the well-being of communities dependent on these federal resources.

The pause in funding is rooted in a memorandum from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), led by Acting Director Matthew Vaeth. The memo, issued on a Monday, calls for a temporary suspension of federal financial assistance. The aim is to evaluate compliance with President Trump’s executive orders, which prioritize reducing expenditures on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, foreign aid, and clean energy programs.

According to the OMB directive, a significant portion of the federal budget—over $3 trillion out of $10 trillion for Fiscal Year 2024—is allocated to grants and loans. Vaeth emphasized that this pause is a strategic move to ensure taxpayer money effectively supports the administration’s objectives. These objectives include “unleashing American energy and manufacturing,” “ending wokeness,” and “promoting efficiency in government.”

During this review process, federal agencies have been tasked with identifying funding programs that might conflict with new executive orders such as Protecting the American People Against Invasion and Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs. The administration’s review is scheduled to take effect on January 28, 2025, and agencies are required to submit detailed reports by February 10, 2025, indicating which programs align with or oppose the president’s policies.

Vaeth highlighted that the review aims to redirect resources toward “supporting hardworking American families” and maintaining fiscal responsibility. Agencies are also expected to ensure compliance through senior political appointees, with the potential to cancel awards that do not align with administration priorities. Notably, this pause does not affect Social Security, Medicare, or direct payments to individuals.

James was quick to denounce this decision, labeling it “reckless and dangerous.” On social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, she expressed her concerns, stating, “Programs in communities across the entire nation depend on this funding to support our families, and this action is only going to hurt them.”

The Attorney General has made it clear that her office is preparing to take prompt legal action against what she terms an unconstitutional pause on federal funding. Her firm stance was evident in her escalating response, declaring, “We won’t sit idly by while this administration harms our families.”

This legal challenge is the latest chapter in James’ long-standing legal confrontations with Trump. She has been a formidable opponent, leading various lawsuits against him and his business ventures. In September 2022, she filed a significant lawsuit accusing Trump, his three eldest children, and the Trump Organization of financial improprieties.

The lawsuit alleged that Trump and his company engaged in fraudulent asset valuation practices to secure favorable loans and insurance deals. James’ office documented more than 200 instances of fraud and sought $250 million in damages, alongside barring Trump and his family from executive roles in New York-based companies.

Following a protracted trial, Judge Arthur Engoron delivered a ruling against Trump in February 2024. The judgment ordered him to pay $354.8 million in disgorged gains and imposed a three-year ban on holding officer or director positions in New York corporations.

James’ latest legal action against the Trump administration’s funding pause adds to her ongoing legal battles with the former president. The administration, meanwhile, is pressing ahead with its financial review, indicating that the legal contest over federal funding is likely to escalate in the coming weeks.

In the midst of these developments, Trump’s lawyer, Mike Davis, issued a stark warning to James. In a bold statement, he said, “I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump… listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time and we will put your fatass in prison for conspiracy against rights.”

As the situation unfolds, it’s clear that both sides are gearing up for an intense legal battle. The administration’s actions reflect its commitment to redirecting federal resources in alignment with its policies, while James remains unwavering in her efforts to challenge decisions she perceives as unconstitutional.

The funding pause and subsequent legal actions underscore the deep divisions and ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and its critics. With both sides entrenched in their positions, the coming weeks promise to be a period of significant legal and political activity.

For supporters of the administration, the funding review represents a necessary step toward ensuring fiscal responsibility and prioritizing American interests. Opponents, however, view it as a politically motivated move that jeopardizes essential programs and communities.

As the debate continues, observers will be watching closely to see how this legal confrontation unfolds and what implications it may have for the future of federal funding and executive authority.

While the outcome remains uncertain, what is clear is that this legal battle is far from over. With Attorney General Letitia James and the Trump administration both steadfast in their positions, the stage is set for a potentially lengthy and contentious legal showdown.

As both sides prepare for the next phase of this legal saga, the stakes are high, and the eyes of the nation are fixed on the unfolding drama between two formidable adversaries.

We now have a new DOJ that will be ran by a pitbull (Bondi) and hopefully, she will go after ANY corrupt attorney or judge no matter what political party they are affiliated with when they WAY overstep their LEGAL abilities. Let James and Bragg be the first so our judicial system can get a glimpse into what is now permitted as legal vs corruption under our Constitution.

  • This women needs to removed from office immediately and the only thing she has done is try to bring down Trump.I don’t think she knows she can’t do anything now that he is in office but there are lot’s of options for Trump.James and Brag will be taken down shortly along with willis.

  • Does anyone believe she’s concerned about wasted taxpayer money when she continually wastes money for her vendettas and does nothing to protect those she represents? She needs to be fired and held accountable for the money she has wasted. The left will not stop with their obsession to blame everything on President Trump and to disrupt the policies he is trying to implement reviewing wasteful spending to save taxpayers money and reduce our national debt. Democrats love wasting money and having money for their pet projects and to line their pockets from people whose projects they push. This won’t stop until those wasting our taxes are held accountable.

  • Leticia James has her eyes on the White House in 2028, and she’ll do anything to stay in the Left’s limelight.

  • Communist AG :] she not even know her boss gone & on the way out 44+ nancy, kamala, chuck…… fight each other & fight the boss, i hope they all ok
