“The View” co-host Joy Behar said Friday she would welcome President Trump back onto the daytime talk show, even as she suggested in the same breath that he is seriously ill.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Behar, who has long clashed with Trump on air, said, “I’d love Donald Trump to take the heat.”

She then added, “You know Trump is not long for this world. He seems ill. He does not seem like he’s well.”

A White House spokesperson fired back in a statement to Fox News Digital, calling Behar an “extremely unlikeable, talentless hack with a poorly rated TV show who clearly suffers from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and adding, “I lose braincells every single time I have the displeasure of hearing her speak.”

Behar’s remarks are not an isolated jab. Last month she argued that the media scrutinizes Trump’s health less than it did former President Joe Biden’s. She has also said Trump is “much more dangerous” now than during his first term and has urged Americans to pressure Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment, saying she believes he is “destroying the United States of America.”

A New York history predates the politics

Behar and Trump’s relationship stretches back decades before his presidency. Trump made more than a dozen appearances on “The View” as a New York celebrity, and Behar attended his 1993 wedding to Marla Maples at The Plaza Hotel.

Behar said Trump’s humor has shifted sharply since those years. “I knew him when he was just an annoying New York figure,” she said. “Back then, he had a sense of humor that was not as bizarre as it is now. Now his sense of humor is making fun of handicapped people.”

She recalled once comparing Trump to Woody Allen after he joked he would date his daughter Ivanka if they were not related. “He actually thought that was funny,” Behar said.

Behar has said her legacy ambitions include helping remove Trump from office, a goal she has pursued publicly even as she continues to reminisce about their shared history on New York’s social scene.
