Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump and a former senior adviser during his first term, was photographed taking a surfing lesson during a family vacation in Costa Rica in August 2026.
Photos show the 44-year-old riding a green surfboard while wearing a long-sleeved white rash guard and black bikini bottoms, and later standing in knee-deep water beside her board between waves.
This is not Ivanka’s first surf trip to the country. She and family members, including Joshua Kushner and his wife Karlie Kloss, visited Costa Rica over the Easter holiday in April 2025. At the time, she wrote on X: “Grateful doesn’t begin to cover it. Spending Passover and Easter week surrounded by the raw beauty of Costa Rica was a gift beyond words.” She added, “Time slowed. We surfed under golden skies, zipped through the jungle canopy, leapt into cool waterfalls, read until the sun dipped low, and surrendered to stillness and deep sleep.”
The latest trip follows an Instagram post in which Ivanka shared a “Summer Snaps” carousel featuring her husband Jared Kushner and their sons Theodore and Joseph engaged in activities such as golf and archery, along with a photo of her in a pool wearing a black one-piece swimsuit.
Since leaving her formal advisory role in the Trump administration, Ivanka has said she wanted to step back from politics during her father’s second term. In a January 2025 appearance on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her” podcast, she described the presidency as “the world’s loneliest position,” citing “the enormity of the decisions you’re making on a daily basis” and how “transactional everyone is with you.” She said she preferred instead to “show up for him as a daughter and be there for him…in a very loving way as his daughter.”
Her recent public posts have centered on family life and travel rather than policy or political activity.
