Hilary Swank made her first public appearance since revealing she is expecting her third child, stepping out in New York City on Thursday with her baby bump on display.
The 52-year-old actress was photographed leaving a taping of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” wearing a white top that exposed her pregnant belly, a colorful chunky knit cardigan, loose-fitting low-rise jeans and black boots. Swank smiled and waved at fans outside the studio.
Swank announced the pregnancy Wednesday in an Instagram video showing her husband, businessman Philip Schneider, and their 3-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm, dancing with glow sticks taped to their bodies. The video ended with Swank revealing her own baby bump, decorated with a small glow stick, and the news that she is due in December.
“A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December,” she wrote alongside the video, adding emoji of a winking face, an angel and a hand over a heart.
Swank and Schneider, who is also 52, welcomed Aya and Ohm in April 2023, when the actress was 48.
On parenting later in life
Months before announcing the new pregnancy, Swank spoke to Women’s Health magazine in November 2025 about having children later in life.
“I’m a very different parent than I would’ve been, even in my early 40s. I’m much more patient. I’m much more understanding. I am much more, I think, interested in a different way than I would’ve been.”
She added that having an established career has allowed her to focus fully on her family: “And I have my career that’s already established, so I’m not divided.”
Swank discussed freezing her eggs and said she “would have had kids earlier,” but described the timing of her first pregnancy as fitting for her circumstances.
“I’m not saying I actively waited until 47. But that was a magical time in my life, when it all culminated. It was the right time for a myriad of reasons.”
Swank and Schneider have been married since August 2018. The actress was previously married to actor Chad Lowe from 1997 to 2007.
