A fundraising campaign launched to help a Punta Gorda woman fight a bestiality charge has been taken offline just days after it appeared, according to a Breitbart News search that could not locate it on SupportNow or any other major crowdfunding platform.
Malia Nummerdor, 38, a mother of two boys, was arrested on September 15 by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office after her estranged husband, Erik Nummerdor, told investigators he had discovered video of her engaged in a sex act with the family dog while reviewing footage from a bedroom camera he said he installed to catch whoever was stealing from a coin jar in their home.
He gave investigators access to the computer holding the recording. According to the arrest report, the footage “provided an independent source of corroboration beyond Erik’s statements,” showing Nummerdor “partially nude and the animal positioned in a manner consistent with sexual activity.”
When sheriff’s investigators questioned her on September 15, police said she appeared “impaired” and admitted to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She denied any sexual conduct, telling investigators she had simply been lying with and petting her elderly dog near its bed. Police said that when pressed on her physical position and the dog’s placement, she “was unable to provide any coherent or consistent explanation,” though she noted a second dog was also present in the room.
Nummerdor was booked and, according to reports, smiled for her mugshot. She has since posted $35,000 bond and been released.
A Fundraiser That Struggled, Then Disappeared
A campaign started Monday on SupportNow described the case as a “painful and difficult situation involving Malia’s estranged husband and allegations against her that she maintains are untrue.” It said the goal was not to litigate the facts publicly but to secure her legal representation and protect her two sons’ privacy and stability.
“Malia is facing serious allegations, and she needs experienced legal representation to ensure that she has the opportunity to fully address them through the proper legal process.”
As of Tuesday, the campaign had reportedly raised just $189 of its $4,200 goal, according to the Mercury. By Wednesday, Breitbart News could not find the page on SupportNow or elsewhere. Nummerdor’s family network is described as small; she is reportedly an only child whose parents are both deceased.
Supporters Question the Husband’s Motives
Before her Facebook page was also taken down, Nummerdor reportedly received messages of support. One friend wrote, “I’m on your side, my sweet girl. Hang in there. You are innocent until proven guilty.” Others raised questions about why her husband chose to air the allegations publicly on Facebook rather than through law enforcement alone, with one commenter writing, “I feel there is much more to this story.”
Erik Nummerdor has not spoken publicly to news media about the case. The charges against Malia Nummerdor remain pending, and no trial date has been reported.
