The story examines a Gold’s Gym member who says her membership was revoked after confronting a biological male in the women’s locker room, and it looks at the legal and cultural forces shaping how gyms handle gender identity and women’s privacy.

The incident centers on a Los Angeles singer who noticed a man in the women’s locker room and reported it to staff, only to be kicked out, she says, after raising the alarm. Her video of the exchange spread on social media and sparked outrage from people who say private spaces for women are being compromised. The account has fueled debate about how businesses respond to customers who challenge the status quo on gender access to restrooms and locker rooms.

The woman at the center of this story, Tish Hyman, recorded interactions that show a man in the women’s locker room wearing items commonly associated with women, and then confronting him verbally. She says he followed her in and later called her a “bi***” in a deep voice, which she included in a clip that circulated online. The confrontation escalated when another male gym-goer intervened and she continued to press the issue with staff.

A Los Angeles based singer is calling for a boycott on Gold’s Gym after she said her membership was revoked because she sounded the alarms of a biological man inside of the women’s locker room.

Tish Hyman, 42, posted a video to social media on Monday showing her confront a man wearing a black sweater, earrings and necklace after he allegedly followed her into the lock room and called her a “bi***” in a deep voice. Another male gym goer is shown stepping in to confront the man as Hyman chastises him.

“Did you tell me or not that woman like to see d***?” Hyman asked the man.

After she complained, Hyman says the gym revoked her membership. That response has inflamed critics who argue businesses are prioritizing policy compliance and fear of litigation over common-sense protections for women. The case highlights a growing tension between customer expectations of privacy and the legal frameworks that interpret gender identity rights.

Hyman’s footage and posts include blunt, profane language, but they also raise questions many women share about safety and clear boundaries in locker rooms. She asks directly why it’s considered acceptable for men to enter women’s spaces and where the line is drawn. Those questions have resonated with an audience that feels policy has outpaced practical safeguards.

Why do you think it’s okay for men to be in the women’s restroom? When is the cutoff point?”

How can women be sure that they are safe at your gym, @GoldsGym?

She also shared additional clips from late October that show the same man reportedly wearing a black sports bra in the women’s locker room, and she claims multiple hostile encounters with people she identifies as transgender women. One video she posted describes an episode where someone entered while she was unclothed, an incident that, depending on your view, is either a failure of enforcement or an emotional flashpoint. Those images and claims are what pushed the story into wider circulation and prompted calls for boycotts and policy reviews.

In a video posted to Instagram on October 26, Hyman records the same man walking around in the women’s locker room wearing a black sports bra.

Hyman shared that she’s had multiple encounter with different transgender “women” in the women’s locker room, who have all been incredibly hostile to her.

She shared in another video detailing an encounter she had with a transgender “women” who walked into the locker room while Hyman was completely naked.

Hyman has also spoken about changing her political outlook because of this experience, saying that past voting choices are now catching up with her. She frames the incident as part of a larger cultural and political shift that voters need to notice and address. Her point illustrates how personal incidents can influence political realignment for some people.

We got to start paying attention to the politics y’all because the things that we haven’t voted for, the things that I could have voted for, probably when I was in my 20s and my 30s, are now kicking me in the a** because I paid no attention to anything.

Legally, the situation in California is complicated: state guidance requires businesses to allow customers to use facilities that match their gender identity, and that can constrain a gym’s options for enforcement. Critics argue laws like that leave women exposed in intimate settings without practical protections, while supporters say they prevent discrimination. The conflict puts institutions like Gold’s Gym in a tight spot, balancing legal compliance, member safety, and reputation risk.

Voices such as Jennifer Sey, who has publicly advocated for preserving women’s spaces, have used this case to underscore the need for clearer rules and stronger protections for biological women. The debate is no longer abstract for many who use public locker rooms regularly and want to feel secure while changing or showering. As these disputes continue, businesses and lawmakers will face pressure to craft policies that reconcile civil rights with privacy and safety concerns.

The episode is a clear example of culture, law, and customer expectations colliding in a real-world setting, and it shows why communities are having heated discussions about where to draw lines in shared spaces. People on all sides will keep arguing about the right balance between inclusion and protection, and stories like this one make the tension feel immediate. The fallout for the gym, the participant, and the broader conversation will play out through social media, legal challenges, and public opinion.
