In a surprising turn, former President Donald Trump revealed that if he were re-elected, he might consider pardoning Hunter Biden, son of current President Joe Biden. Trump’s statement, which came during an interview on Hugh Hewitt’s radio program, has stirred reactions across the political spectrum, especially given the Biden family’s past criticisms of Trump and their strong opposition to his policies. The New York Post initially reported Trump’s remarks, which have since been the topic of widespread discussion.

Trump’s indication that he might pardon Hunter Biden caught many off guard, particularly those who have followed the Biden family’s sharp rebukes of Trump. The Bidens have often expressed concerns that, if re-elected, Trump might use his authority to pursue legal action against them. Trump’s recent statements suggest that such concerns may be overstated.

Hunter Biden currently faces serious legal challenges, and his future may include a prison sentence. In June, he was convicted of three federal gun-related charges and recently pleaded guilty to multiple tax offenses. His sentencing hearings are scheduled for December, with some legal experts suggesting that a prison sentence is unlikely, while others argue it remains a real possibility.

As Hunter’s legal issues loom, some have speculated that President Joe Biden might pardon his son before leaving office. However, the White House has denied that any such plan is in place. Until recently, Trump had not been asked publicly if he would consider pardoning Hunter Biden. Now, his response suggests he might take a more lenient approach than some had expected.

When asked about a potential pardon for Hunter Biden, Trump clarified that he wouldn’t excuse the crimes Hunter Biden committed. “I wouldn’t take it off the books,” Trump remarked. But he went on to say that he would likely consider preventing Hunter from serving prison time if he were sentenced.

Trump’s full response emphasized the balance between enforcing the law and promoting national unity. “See, unlike Joe Biden, despite what they’ve done to me, where they’ve gone after me so viciously…Hunter’s a bad boy. There’s no question about it. He’s been a bad boy. All you had to do is see the laptop from hell — but I happen to think it’s very bad for our country.” Trump added that while he strongly disagreed with Hunter’s actions, he believed prosecuting the son of a former president would not benefit the nation.

Trump went on to reference a similar situation during his first term, in which he refrained from pursuing criminal charges against Hillary Clinton. Despite public outcry and chants of “Lock her up!” following revelations about her private email server, Trump ultimately decided against pushing for a prosecution, arguing that doing so would be detrimental to national unity.

Trump’s stance on Hunter Biden appears to reflect a similar viewpoint, one that prioritizes national cohesion over retribution, even if it involves one of his most vocal critics. He seems to believe that prosecuting high-profile political figures or their family members may only exacerbate divisions, a view that may appeal to Americans concerned about rising political polarization.

Trump’s statements have received mixed reactions. Supporters of the former president see his stance as an example of his restraint and focus on unity, especially considering the Biden family’s criticisms of Trump. Trump supporters argue that his willingness to consider a pardon for Hunter Biden shows strength of character and a willingness to rise above political conflicts. Others suggest Trump’s statements might be a tactical move, emphasizing his focus on national interest over personal vendettas.

Critics, however, question whether Trump’s statements are genuine or part of a broader strategy. Some Democrats suggest Trump’s remarks could be an attempt to soften his image or appeal to moderates who may feel uneasy about another tumultuous election cycle. Others worry that a precedent of pardoning political figures’ relatives could weaken accountability for future administrations, creating a cycle where political figures avoid consequences for actions deemed illegal.

Trump’s comments also shine a light on potential issues for the 2024 race. For some voters, Trump’s willingness to consider a pardon could contrast favorably with what they see as Democratic leaders’ more partisan attitudes. Others may see it as a reminder of his often unpredictable approach to governing, one that prioritizes intuition over traditional politics.

Political analysts speculate that Trump’s statement may help him attract independent voters, many of whom are wary of the perceived political weaponization of legal systems. For Trump, this may be a chance to portray himself as a leader who values the country’s well-being over partisan conflicts, which could be an asset as he seeks to expand his base beyond his core supporters.

While a potential pardon for Hunter Biden is far from confirmed, Trump’s remarks have sparked important questions about accountability, fairness, and the role of family members in high-stakes politics. Whether Trump’s stance on Hunter Biden resonates positively with the electorate or not remains to be seen, but it’s clear that his approach to the 2024 race will include unexpected moves that continue to distinguish him as a unique political figure on the American stage.

  • Oh hell no, Not one single American Citizen would get off that easy if any common person did the things Hunter did.
President Trump, I will never support you if you allow the Communist Democrats and Rinos to get away with the high crimes they’ve done to the American Citizens and the Constitution.
Any American Citizen would be rotting in prison without a possibility of parole.
If you let that Mother Fuc*er off or any other destructive Communist off then you’ll be just as guilty as they are.!

    • Roger that. In fact, many of those J6 rally goers are still in Jail, more than several without ‘due process.’ Where is the OUTCRY for them?

  • Unacceptable to do anything unless you release everyone in federal prison for tax crimes. Release the J6. Keep your damn promises and finally lock Hilary up. Disgusted.

    • Yessir, yessir, one of my great DISAPPOINTMENTS of all time. My heart went pitty-patty in elation hearing then candidate Trump answer Killery with, “You Would Be In Jail!” Unfortunately, NONE of the true sedition minded criminals, including every one of the heads of those government alphabet agencies, have as much as been charged or indicted. They ALL are walking FREE as birds, sipping their margaritas on the taxpayer’s dime! As is far too often said in America today, “You Just Can’t Make This Schiff Up.”

  • “…. he was convicted of three federal gun-related charges and recently pleaded guilty to multiple tax offenses.” Not to mention, his role in the ‘selling of Senate and presidential influence’ over the years!

What “pardon” would ‘We The Serfs’ find available if convicted of like crimes? These ‘criminal, sedition minded, politicians’ have yet to be held accountable for ANYTHING. These wonks have fabricated multiple “crimes” with which to charge President Trump. A verifiable case could be made, without fabrication, to charge the Biden Crime Cabal with ‘Treason.’ As John Stossel would say, “GIVE ME A BREAK.”

  • The Master plays Chess.
The radicals play Chutes and Ladders.
I trust President Trump enough to eat dis cr-p sangwhich…
    Urp

  • I certainly hope this is not true, for to me it only proves the ELITE /SWAMP in the US truly is a TWO TIER GOVERNMENT

  • When I grew up there was little or none of this from one American to another. We certainly had our differences, but it was not hate. I dislike all of the Bidens, but the other side to that is Joe is on his way out and to have his son put in jail may just be the thing to push Joe over the edge. Pardoning Hunter is not such a bad thing if it helps the idiots on the left understand us on the right are not such bad people and Trump is for all Americans. Trump is one of the best the best we ever had.

  • Trump you better put your balls back on. All the Biden’s need to be indicted and charges for Treason and corruption fraud crimes and should spend the rest of their life in prison. Don’t think for one second that if they cheat enough to win the election they wouldn’t hang you out to dry. They’re all crooked corrupt scum and need to pay for their millions of dollars corrupt dealings.
Now isn’t the time to be a pussy.

  • Don’t agree with pardon. He has commited crimes he should do time. He seems to think he is different than anyone else. He is a corrupt disgusting crook and should be sentence to jail if found guilty which I am sure he should be.

  • Hunter Biden is a horrible criminal–he should burn in Hell. Pardon J6 before Biden. IMHO-Pardoning Hunter is the same as pardoning Hillary or James or Smith, or Brass or Fani. They are all tarred with the same brush.
