Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, has stirred controversy with her reluctance to address whether she would continue prosecuting January 6 protesters if confirmed by the Senate. Bondi’s silence has become a focal point of media and political debate as she begins the confirmation process for one of the most scrutinized roles in the Trump administration.
While meeting with senators on Capitol Hill, Bondi avoided a direct response when asked whether January 6 prosecutions would proceed under her leadership. Florida’s Voice correspondent Eric Daugherty noted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Trump Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi declines to answer whether any January 6th prosecutions will continue under her.”
Daugherty added that Bondi’s noncommittal stance has upset Democrats, who were hoping for a clear “yes” in support of ongoing cases.
Bondi’s meetings with senators, including Senate Judiciary Committee members like Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), were part of her efforts to build support for her confirmation. Graham, a close ally of Trump, expressed strong confidence in Bondi, calling her “very well qualified.”
“I don’t think President Trump could have done better,” Graham stated. “The confirmation hearings will be challenging, as they should be, but I have every confidence that she will acquit herself well.”
Bondi’s meetings on Capitol Hill are an essential step in navigating the complex confirmation process. She has so far opted for a reserved approach, offering limited commentary about her discussions with senators. Her focus, according to Politico, appears to be on securing the support of Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans, who will play a pivotal role in her confirmation hearings.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), also a Judiciary Committee member, remarked that Bondi’s hearings would likely be “robust,” adding, “We’ll properly vet all the president’s nominees, just like we did President Biden’s nominees.”
Bondi’s nomination is expected to ignite fierce debate, particularly over her close ties to Trump and his controversial promise to seek retribution if reelected. Bondi, who has vocally criticized the criminal cases against Trump, has said little publicly about the January 6 Capitol riot or the Department of Justice’s handling of related prosecutions.
Democratic senators are likely to probe Bondi on her stance toward prosecuting individuals involved in the January 6 attack, given Trump’s previous claims that many of those charged were “treated unfairly.”
Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida offered Bondi some advice during a recent appearance on The Ingraham Angle on Fox News. DeSantis urged her to focus on integrity rather than popularity, saying:
“Expect to be attacked relentlessly by the corporate press. And know when that happens, that’s a badge of honor. That means you’re doing the right thing.”
If confirmed, Bondi would inherit a Justice Department rife with accusations of bias and malfeasance. Republican officials and conservative commentators have pointed to allegations of misconduct in the Biden administration’s investigations, including the handling of cases involving Hunter Biden.
IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley recently expressed hope that Bondi would thoroughly investigate these allegations. Speaking on Fox News, Shapley criticized the current Justice Department’s leadership, from Attorney General Merrick Garland to Special Counsel David Weiss.
“Hopefully, when the new administration comes in and the new attorney general Bondi comes in, they’ll be looking into this,” Shapley stated. “Maybe appoint a special counsel to investigate this special counsel because the level of malfeasance that occurred at every level is just quite appalling.”
Bondi, who served as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019, is known for her tough-on-crime stance and loyalty to Trump. Her potential leadership at the DOJ comes at a critical juncture, as the department faces scrutiny over its handling of high-profile cases and partisan controversies.
While Bondi has yet to clarify her position on January 6 prosecutions, her silence on the issue underscores the challenges she will face during her confirmation hearings. The hearings are expected to be a platform for debates about justice, accountability, and the DOJ’s future direction under a Trump administration.
As the process unfolds, Bondi’s nomination will serve as a litmus test for Trump’s broader plans to reshape the Justice Department—and for the Senate’s willingness to support those efforts. Whether her reserved approach will help or hinder her confirmation remains to be seen.
Trump’s DAY 1 pardon for all J6 patriots will solve that!
She is wise not to comment now.
These comments are spot-on in my humble opinion!
Glad to hear she isn’t blabbing on and on to the Marxist’s questions, Perhaps she needs more Info, which when she is confirmed she will be able to formulate an informed Decision. Since the J6 people deleted, erased, covered up, and otherwise Lied lied lied, it’s difficult to know where the truth lies.
Correct!
She will take her direction from President Trump …AFTER Jan. 20th!!
Bondi shouldn’t have to reveal what all her investigations may be until she assumes that position and sees what probable cause that she may have to investigate and prosecute any wrong doing. The b.s. of the left is already starting and the R’s are again acting like chickenschiffs when faced with their demands, yet weren’t upset at all when they helped install a mentally ill man into biden’s cabinet who transformed himself into an admiral while wearing a skirt and makeup.
All so true these lying, backstabbing traitors and impish, weak, twisted sisters need to be gone already!
“TERM LIMITS; and RULE OF LAW FOR ALL!”
Enough of the “PASSING THE BUCK!!!”
“The buck stops here” (is a phrase that was popularized by U.S. President Harry S. Truman, who kept a sign with that phrase on his desk in the Oval Office.) Wikipedia
She is VERY Smart. She can not comment on the false prosecutions. the spoliation of evidence, the political assassination of individuals for the benefit of the democrats agenda.
However, if she continues being smart and finds the firing of tear gas and less than lethal rounds into peaceful crowds, she could EASILY reverse then entire issue into something that not only releases all the political prisoners of the left, but destroys the leftist narrative.
Bondi is a pittbull and has plenty of experience with determining law and fact in political narrative as well as legal narrative. The SPOLIATION of over 10,000 hours of video including audio in many cases might be enough for her to move the entire narrative. The lack of release of those videos to defense, as wells the movement of J6 prisoners and imprisoning many without even an official indictment is enough o bring down the entire leftist agenda in J6. There are TOO MANY QUESTIONS. Why was the national guard not brought in when requested. Why was the DC police involved at all and why would they be in charge when this was not their Jurisdiction? Why were the witnesses statements that the DC police and others attacked peaceful assembly not allowed in courts and suppressed? MMM maybe some real answers, but for now silence is Golden.
we need a PIT BULL in the AG office. NOT an anti-2nd amendment RINO. Did we not learn anything from Sessions? Many communist still live and breathe in Amerika. They need to be relocated or put in a “safe space” underground….
what ever she says some one will pick it apart , then when it happen’s they will do it again , so wait , then when she dz, what ever it will be , she will only has one battle not 2 , I agree with her wait, only one battle to fight , PS YOU KNOW THE NEWS PEOPLE WILL PICK IT APART BIG TIME , NO MATTER WHAT SHE DZ”
