Christian Lanng, the former CEO of San Francisco-based Tradeshift, is facing serious accusations from a former assistant who alleges years of sexual abuse.

This was reported by The Mercury News in October, following the public announcement of Lanng’s termination due to “gross misconduct”.

A lawsuit has been filed in San Francisco County Superior Court, claiming that the accuser was subjected to rape, sexual abuse, torture and assault under the guise of a “slave contract.”

Furthermore, the accuser alleges that Lanng inflicted physical pain on her through various means as well as urinating on her and penetrating her person with foreign objects.

Doe claims she told Tradeshift’s human-resources department and company officials about her “suffering at the hands of the CEO under the slave contract,” but instead of protecting her, Tradeshift, which has offices in London, Tokyo, Paris and seven other international locations, fired her in 2020. Tradeshift did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the lawsuit, filed Thursday in San Francisco County Superior Court. The lawsuit does not make clear how long Doe worked at Tradeshift. Lanng claimed in his statement that Doe never filed a complaint, “formal or otherwise,” to Tradeshift’s HR department or board.

Among the many purported provisions of the contract are that Doe, “Always be sexually available for her master when he needs sex and to never refuse him sex even when not wearing the collar,” and, “Whenever she sees her master in private for the first time, she is to kneel and ask if there is anything she can do for him.”

Under the purported “at work” section of the alleged contract, Doe was free to “act independently as long as she remembers she is her master’s property and she is there to please him and for no other reason.”

Other alleged provisions detail mandatory sex acts. The purported document also allegedly required Doe to dress in “a proper, feminine way, preferably skirts, dresses and stockings,” to keep her weight between 130 and 155 pounds, and noting her weight weekly in a spreadsheet shared with Lanng. Doe was allegedly required to wear her “day collar” when out with Lanng.

Allowed under the alleged contract is “any punishment the master decides to inflict, whether earned or not,” including spanking, caning, slapping, humiliation and electric shock, although the purported document noted the “master’s responsibility” to avoid killing Doe or committing permanent bodily harm.

Despite the severe accusations, Mr. Lanng has firmly denied all claims made in the suit. In a recent statement, he emphasized that these allegations are “absolutely false” and declared that he believes there is a malicious attempt to misconstrue what he characterized as a consensual private relationship for financial gain.

“The shocking and vile claims in the lawsuit are categorically false, and I reject allegations that I subjected someone to any form of abuse during my tenure as CEO or at any other time of my life,” he said in a statement.

“A highly distorted version of the extremely intimate details of a private consensual sexual relationship is now not only in the public domain but also being used to defame me for personal financial gain,” he added.

Lanng contradicted his own statement by noting that his relationship with Doe was personal and consensual, although this was in direct violation of company policy. He conceded to the impropriety of hiring someone he had a romantic involvement with.

In response, Doe filed a lawsuit detailing Lanng’s requests for writings in a “diary” depicting her submissiveness.

Despite this, on International Women’s Day, Lanng advocated for the event through his X account.

Lanng has been widely acknowledged for his vehement criticism of Donald Trump and Elon Musk. His X account is populated with posts expressing opposition to the President.

  • Despite the fact that lanng is an arrogant, ignorant person , I would wait to see how this case proceeds. The terms of the “contract” are highly questionable.

  • This sounds like a very “sick” S&M contract, that has no business in a workplace at all. It also sounds like 1, or probably both, parties need serious mental health care ASAP!

  • Christian (not, really) Lanng is a terrible person. He is a real nut job. BUT! No woman needs a job so badly that she would go along with this, either as a “contract” or as just a job.
    I have such a hard time with all these “after the fact” claims. If it is important, speak up when it happens. How well was this woman paid, that she agreed to this, if it really happened.

  • Normally I wait for facts to surface before passing judgement, but….

  • What a lunatic to be in a CEO position. Obviously, highly deranged socially. Would have likely been best if the board(s) had canned him far sooner than they did.

    Doesn’t indicate if Doe has a wrongful termination or harassment case within the context of working in Caseshift. If their deranged sexual relationship, contracted slave, pre-exists her working within Caseshift, somewhat dismisses the work environment as being material to her filing.
    If any sort of sexual slave ‘contract’ was a part of her employment, particularly with her ‘master’ being the CEO, the company and Lanng should be subject to severe penalties.

    Sad that something like this is made public. Originating in San Fran, this should not surprise anyone.

  • There is a precedent for this type of “overlord/underling” type of (citizen and societal)organization (both miltary and civilian) in world history. India has this system of “overlord/underling” operational until this very date. There was an extensive analysis recently in an essay on just how “distorted value systems” unfold and perpetuate themselves in all of India’s culture…to it’s detriment. And, breaking it is almost impossible…so “live and let live” reigns supreme. Yes, India’s culture is one even English occupation couldn’t resolve. Modi’s government can’t either.   • Not saying this guy shouldn’t get prosecuted, but if “Doe” really had a contract as it states in the article, sounds as if she knew what was gonna happen, plus she prostituted herself, if she was being compensated for it.

Being a weak liberal he has a big need for submissiveness to boost his fragile ego. I recommend a huge settlement for the female victim and a harsh liberal slap on the wrist for him. Let’s face it, a slap on the wrist is all he will get in court anyway.

    Does this company have lawyers?
    Did the company legal dept. have anything to do with this?
    The entire company is at risk for legal elimination of its charter and should be sold with proceeds to victims.
