Authorities in Suffolk County, New York, have made a stunning discovery: a record-breaking fentanyl bust that could have devastating consequences. According to officials, more than seven kilograms of the potent synthetic opioid were seized from a home in Bellport, a quantity that District Attorney Ray Tierney chillingly stated was enough to kill every man, woman, and child on Long Island.

The suspect, 43-year-old Remon Gibson, was arrested in connection with this massive drug bust—the largest fentanyl seizure in Suffolk County history. Along with the fentanyl, authorities also seized eight kilograms of cocaine, over a pound of xylazine (an animal tranquilizer increasingly found in street drugs), and $80,000 in cash. Disturbingly, the fentanyl was found inside a nightstand located near a child’s bedroom, highlighting the reach and recklessness of drug operations that are putting lives at risk.

Two children were reportedly in the home during the raid, where drugs were allegedly being processed and stamped with the label “COVID-19”—a disturbing branding tactic meant to resonate in the underground drug trade.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, and it has been driving an alarming spike in overdose deaths across the United States. Even a few milligrams of fentanyl—roughly the size of a few grains of salt—can be lethal. The amount confiscated in Bellport underscores the severity of the crisis, with officials warning that traffickers are increasingly mixing fentanyl with other drugs like heroin and cocaine to boost potency and profits, often without the user’s knowledge.

Ray Tierney, Suffolk County’s District Attorney, stressed the gravity of the bust: “Gone are the days of cocaine and heroin, although they’re still out there, they’re now being mixed with these more lethal types of lab-created drugs. We’re looking at taking out these major traffickers and disincentivizing what’s otherwise a lucrative trade.”

The seizure comes on the heels of another alarming bust in the area earlier this year, involving the drug carfentanil, an elephant tranquilizer that is about 100 times more potent than fentanyl. Carfentanil, known on the streets as “Super Mario,” is even deadlier, and its presence in local drug supplies has raised fresh concerns for law enforcement. Authorities are warning that as these ultra-potent synthetic drugs continue to flood the streets, the risk to public health grows exponentially.

Fentanyl has been at the heart of America’s escalating drug overdose crisis, with more than 100,000 Americans dying annually from overdoses, many of which involve fentanyl. The drug is often produced in clandestine labs and smuggled into the U.S. through Mexico. However, Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute and senior contributor to Breitbart News, argues that fentanyl’s origins are more closely tied to China than Mexico.

In a March appearance on Breitbart News Saturday, Schweizer explained how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is using fentanyl as a “weapon” against the United States, alleging that many individuals involved in the fentanyl trade have senior positions within the CCP or act as advisors to the Chinese government. He described the Mexican cartels as “junior partners” in the deadly trade, suggesting that China is the true mastermind behind the fentanyl epidemic.

“A lot of the people involved in the fentanyl trade actually have senior positions in the CCP or they’re advisers to the CCP government, but the links in this chain of fentanyl that is poisoning 100,000 Americans—every link in that chain is a Chinese operation,” Schweizer said. He emphasized that while Mexican cartels handle the distribution, the production pipeline is largely orchestrated by Chinese interests.

The broader political implications of the fentanyl crisis are undeniable. As the 2024 presidential election looms, the issue of drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl, has taken center stage. Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for re-election alongside President Joe Biden, has vowed to “stop the flow of illegal fentanyl” into the United States. However, critics argue that her efforts have been insufficient, as drug-related deaths continue to hit record highs under the Biden administration.

In September, Breitbart News reported on Harris’ campaign promises to tackle the fentanyl crisis, but her critics point to the grim statistics that tell a different story. Despite pledges to curb the influx of fentanyl and other lethal substances, the U.S. remains in the throes of a drug overdose epidemic that shows no signs of slowing down.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, such as those in Suffolk County, are doing what they can to dismantle trafficking operations at the local level. Major drug busts like the one in Bellport serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by these deadly substances and the ongoing battle to rid communities of their lethal influence.

As District Attorney Tierney noted, these busts are aimed at the major traffickers, but the fight is far from over. With fentanyl continuing to flood U.S. streets, fueled by international operations, local authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant as they confront this unprecedented drug crisis.

  • Implementing the automatic death penalty for drug trafficking would make a big difference. Carried out in 30 days from arrest. Drastic- but necessary. Apply it to anyone found to be in the distribution chain or pushers on the street.

  • “VP Harris….vowed to “stop the flow of illegal fentanyl” into the United States.” Cue the laugh track! Wait one, that thing exploded seeing that. This ‘immigration law’ ignoring criminal has done only one thing well, allowed the INVASION of America, from every 3d World Country on the planet Earth, and changed the demographics of every state in these (Un) United States! As John Stossel would say, “GIVE ME A BREAK.”
