California’s leadership is once again under fire—literally and figuratively—as devastating wildfires ravage the state. Amidst this tragedy, Governor Gavin Newsom (D) found himself in the crosshairs of President-Elect Donald Trump, who accused him of disastrous mismanagement that contributed to the state’s fiery crisis.
President-Elect Trump minced no words in his scathing critique of Newsom, pointing to a controversial decision the governor made regarding California’s water resources. Trump highlighted that Newsom “refused to sign the water restoration declaration” that would have redirected millions of gallons of excess water from rain and snowmelt to areas now engulfed in flames.
This water, Trump claimed, could have been used to prevent or mitigate the wildfires that have devastated lives, homes, and communities. Instead, Newsom prioritized the protection of the Delta smelt, a small fish species. “He is to blame for this,” Trump declared on Truth Social, holding Newsom directly accountable for what he described as “apocalyptic” conditions in California.
During a visit to fire-affected areas, Newsom gave his predictable performance, complete with a staged display of emotion during a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper. When asked about Trump’s remarks, Newsom appeared flustered and claimed to be holding back from sharing his true thoughts.
“It’s, uh, one can’t even respond to it,” Newsom stammered. “People have lost their lives. Kids lost their schools. Families completely torn asunder. Churches burned down. This guy wanted to politicize it. I-I have a lot of thoughts and I know what I want to say. I won’t.”
Newsom pivoted to praise President Joe Biden, who accompanied him on the visit. “He didn’t play politics,” Newsom said of Biden, in a thinly veiled attempt to contrast the president-elect with Trump.

Critics were quick to call out Newsom for what they saw as blatant hypocrisy. California Assemblyman Bill Essayli lambasted Newsom for claiming the timing wasn’t right to discuss responsibility. “This is exactly the moment that the people responsible for California’s fire mismanagement should be held accountable,” Essayli wrote on social media.
He continued by listing several examples of Democratic leadership failing to address fire prevention:
- Mismanagement of forest resources, including delayed clearing of dry brush.
- Neglect of prescribed burns, which help reduce fire intensity.
- Prioritization of political posturing over pragmatic solutions, such as Newsom’s focus on “Trump-proofing” the state rather than fire-proofing communities.
The criticism extends beyond just wildfires. Newsom’s tenure as governor has seen a mass exodus of residents fleeing the state due to high taxes, rampant crime, and a skyrocketing cost of living. Wildfires are just the latest in a long list of crises that Californians have endured under Democratic leadership.
Trump’s remarks brought to light the decades-long dominance of Democrats in California’s government, which many argue has directly contributed to the state’s current challenges. Policies focused on environmental extremism, such as water restrictions to protect fish, have hampered the state’s ability to prepare for and respond to natural disasters.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) faced her own backlash for dodging questions about the city’s fire preparedness. Fresh off a taxpayer-funded trip to Ghana, Bass was confronted by reporters about the city’s failure to equip firefighters adequately. Instead of answering, she walked away without comment, leaving critics to denounce her leadership as another example of Democratic ineptitude.
For many, the ongoing wildfire crisis is emblematic of a broader failure in governance. Newsom’s handling of this and other issues has fueled speculation about his political aspirations. As he positions himself as a national figure and potential alternative to Biden, his critics argue that his record in California should disqualify him from higher office.
Trump’s direct attack has forced Newsom into the defensive, with pressure mounting for him to take responsibility for his decisions. But as the governor deflects blame and accuses others of politicizing the tragedy, Californians are left to face the devastating consequences of years of mismanagement.
In the wake of this crisis, calls for reform are growing louder. Fire prevention advocates are demanding a shift in priorities, urging California’s leadership to invest in effective resource management and infrastructure improvements. At the same time, political observers are watching closely to see how the wildfire crisis impacts Newsom’s political ambitions.
Ultimately, this moment could serve as a reckoning for California’s leaders. Whether they rise to the occasion or continue to deflect blame will determine the state’s ability to weather its current challenges—and avoid future ones.
As flames continue to rage, one thing is clear: Californians deserve better than empty photo ops and political excuses. Will their leaders deliver? The state’s future may depend on it.
Newscum should be thrown in the heart of the fire.
• “Mismanagement of forest resources, including delayed clearing of dry brush.

• Prioritization of political posturing over pragmatic solutions, such as Newsom’s focus on “Trump-proofing” the state rather than fire-proofing communities.”
These points I’ve thought for years now have been ignored and this is the result of not only mismanagement of these factors but of the entire State, by “a demonic sick evil bastard” that should be tried for “all of his many crimes” which include “Treason and Seditious Conspiracy” both on a State level and Federal; to then be summarily executed!
This devil is one of the worst evil monsters on the planet and it’s related to Piglosi; go figure! He is the primary factor in all of this destruction and Death so he is a murderer as well!
I know these devils Newscum and Lyin-Biden will burn in hell together for eternity and their suffering will dwarf all of this catastrophic suffering by millions of times with NO END!
God bless and comfort all of the victims!
gavin is an imbecile! Congratulations California. You elected a doozy!!
We in Florida do prescribed burns every year to clear brush, dead trees and piled up vegetation. And we never have wildfires take over residential areas. Of course we haven’t diverted our water supplies like California, we haven’t given extra firefighting equipment to Ukraine, and we haven’t cut our firefighting budgets. Newsome has known all along about the dangers of residential wildfires yet he hasn’t spent (much if any) money to mediate or eliminate them. He’s too busy throwing money at illegal immigrants and the homeless. Of course California can’t seem to track how they spent the billions of dollars they collect from high taxes. People continue to leave Cali for “common sense” states.
I am be so bery, bery proud of my son.
CandyAsss for President 2028? Ha!
when the movie comes out about the great LA fire of 2025, Gavin Newscum will make the perfect governor to play the part
Sure, because all he’s been is an actor as the Gov.
Newsom is responsible for these fires for negligence in not preparing for fire safety and diverting waterto a fish instead of humans resign BOZO you brain has joined with Bidens a massive bowl of green JELLO.
