Commander Cameron Yaste, who served as the commanding officer of the USS John McCain has been dismissed from his role after a telling picture of him went viral.
He was relieved of duty on Friday and may now be subject to a demotion in rank within the Naval Officer hierarchy.
He has been temporarily replaced by Capt. Allison Christy, the deputy commodore of Destroyer Squadron 21, which is currently operating as part of the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group in the Gulf of Oman.
Commander Cameron Yaste’s career took a nosedive after a photograph emerged showing him firing a rifle with the scope mounted backward.
The Navy dismissed Commander Yaste from his position as the commanding officer of the USS John McCain, currently deployed in the Gulf of Oman, citing a “loss of confidence in his ability to command.”
The statement did not provide specific reasons for the dismissal, leading to speculation that it might be related to a rifle blunder.
In April, a social media post showed Commander Yaste holding a rifle with a backward-mounted scope, prompting widespread ridicule.
After deleting the post, the Navy acknowledged the error and removed the picture until extra military instruction was completed.
The Marine Corps took advantage of this misstep by posting an image of a Marine properly firing a weapon aboard the USS Boxer with the caption “Clear Sight Picture,” aimed at highlighting the Navy’s gaffe.
Yaste wears the four stripes of a Captain while Cammrons unifor reflects that of a Commander. This is from a retired Master Chief Petty Officer (USN).
Stupid muthrfkr looks like a psycho in his official picture and his replacement is a fucking tranny. This country is an embarrassment, run by traitors and freaks and cowards
What do you expect??Its the Navy, They have very little experience with small arms.
