Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, Jayson.
The order was issued due to threats made by Jayson towards Lauren and his actions of taking and destroying items from her home in Silt. After being married for 18 years, the couple filed for divorce in October.
This recent filing in Garfield County is just one of many arguments that have occurred between them. They share four children and one grandchild, as reported by the Denver Post.
Lauren Boebert’s request for a temporary protection order referenced two incidents from January which led to charges against Jayson Boebert for assault, harassment, and obstructing police.
The first incident took place on January 6 at a restaurant in Silt where an alleged altercation occurred between Lauren and Jayson.
Following this incident, Jayson called the police claiming that she had hit him and refused to leave when they arrived.
According to the court filing submitted on Friday, Lauren Boebert stated that Jayson expressed his desire for her negative media coverage after he called the police that evening.
On Friday, Boebert took legal action by filing a motion, seeking a restraining order against her and her four children. The motion cited stalking and the threat of physical assault as reasons for this request.
Among her children, three are below the age of 18. According to Boebert’s claims in the filing, on Friday morning Jayson unlawfully entered her Silt residence and proceeded to take her personal belongings. He then sent her a text message informing her that he had destroyed these items.
Boebert stated in the court document that over the past 14 months, Jayson had made numerous threats towards her well-being, including multiple suicidal threats and threats to cause harm.
Later in the day, a judge granted Boebert and her three minor children a temporary restraining order. A court hearing regarding this order is scheduled for Thursday with regards to Jayson Boebert’s involvement.
Recently, Boebert announced that she intends to run for the more conservative-friendly 4th district in the 2024 election instead of continuing to represent the 3rd district where she has served for several years.
In 2022, she narrowly won against Democratic opponent Adam Frisch in a closely contested race. However, it appears that Boebert’s decision to change congressional districts may not pan out as expected based on a recent straw poll.
The poll revealed that Boebert came in fifth place among candidates vying for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District seat currently held by retiring Rep. Ken Buck (R).
Many believed that shifting into this crowded primary race within a predominantly conservative district was an attempt by Boebert to avoid potential loss in the more competitive 3rd District.
In 2022, she only secured victory by a margin of 546 votes while facing both primary challenges and expectations of a rematch with Democrat Adam Frisch who had raised more campaign funds than her according to Newsweek.
During a debate in Fort Lupton last week, Boebert openly acknowledged that she recognized the need to garner the support of voters in the 4th District. “I am here to earn your support and your vote,” she said. “This is not a coronation.”
A straw poll conducted among 100 Republicans at the debate suggested that she is confronted with a challenging task in winning the nomination against her rivals, some of whom have spent their entire lives in the district and currently hold positions in Colorado’s legislature representing parts of it.
Newsweek added: “She got 12 votes in the poll, according to The Denver Post. With 22 votes, Logan County Commissioner Jerry Sonnenberg won the poll. State Representative Mike Lynch came in second with 20, conservative radio host Deborah Florida came in third with 18, and State Representative Richard Holtorf came in third with 17.”
In December, Boebert made public her decision to change districts, citing her divorce as a reason for seeking a “fresh start.”
“It’s the right move for me, and it’s the right decision for those who support our conservative movement. This is the right move for Colorado for us,” said Boebert. “2024 is going to be tough, we cannot lose the third, and Colorado’s fourth district is hungry for an unapologetic defender of freedom with a proven track record of standing strong for conservative principles. We have to protect our majority in the House, win the Senate, and win the presidency.”
Boebert accused “Hollywood elites and progressive money groups” of trying to “buy” her current district after Frisch brought in a large amount of campaign money this year, the Daily Caller reported.
According to Federal Election Commission filings, Frisch has raised a total of $7.8 million this year and has $4.3 million cash on hand.
As per the survey data compiled by FiveThirtyEight, Frisch was found to be leading Boebert by a margin of 2 points in a recent poll. However, an earlier poll this year showed both candidates tied with similar levels of support.
Boebert herself announced in a Facebook video that she intends to relocate to Colorado’s 4th district, which is located on the opposite side of the state.
The Daily Caller pointed out that Buck’s district has a strong Republican leaning, indicating that Boebert may face less resistance in securing victory for his seat.
The Cook Political Report characterizes the 4th Congressional District as “Solid Republican,” whereas Boebert’s seat is currently in the “Toss Up” category.

I met Bobert at one of the CPAC conferences. I was delighted to introduce myself to her, being from Colorado, and show her support even though I was in another district. She was all smiles & then realizing I couldn’t vote for her, became dismissively rude, and summarily sent me on my way. She now wants to move to my district. Sorry Lauren, you no longer have my vote for your rudeness. You need to grow into a more mature adult before I do that. Let’s see if you make it this time in my district. I doubt it. I guess mountain girls don’t have the same good manners as us Coloradoan girls on the plains.
I am sure the Democrats are all sending money to her competition. As she has been a huge thorn for corrupt Democrats! And by no surprise we have seen the Democrats trying to buy Niki Haily to stop Trump! So if the Democrat is funding them! They certainly are not working for conservatives! We have had a good year getting rid of RINO’s like Cheney , Romney and crybaby Kinzinger! No need to vote in another Rino that will vote Democrat! Bought and paid for by Democrats is a Democrat! Time to wake up America!
She may have to return to slinging hash at the diner in Rifle, Colorado.
Hope she wins her seat!
