Lindy Li, a former high-profile Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser, has made headlines with her announcement that she has joined President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee. This shocking move marks a significant shift in her political allegiance and reflects a growing dissatisfaction among some former Democratic donors.

Li, who was once considered a rising star and a top influencer within the Democratic Party, shared her decision in an exclusive interview with RedState. “I was just appointed to Trump’s inaugural committee!” she said excitedly. Her statement signals the culmination of her transition from a staunch supporter of Democratic causes to an outspoken critic of her former party.

Li’s political pivot has been nothing short of dramatic. She was once a vocal supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris and was named by WIRED as a key influencer in the 2024 election. However, after Harris’s campaign ended in financial ruin, with close to $2 billion spent and significant debt remaining, Li turned her ire toward the Democratic establishment.

The former fundraiser has not minced words in her criticism of the party, calling out its financial mismanagement and leadership failures. “The Party of Woke and DEI [Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion] is now calling for me, an American, to be deported just because I dared to tell the truth,” she stated.

Li has also faced relentless online harassment, including racially charged attacks, since voicing her discontent. “I am subject to vile insults daily for asking questions about the Harris campaign’s financial mismanagement,” she said, adding, “Democrats have exposed their racism for all to see—but it was always simmering beneath the surface.”

Li hinted that her departure from the Democratic Party may not be an isolated incident. She revealed that she has been recruiting other disillusioned donors who feel similarly betrayed. “I’m the first major DNC donor to join [Trump’s team],” she noted. “I’ve recruited others … who are also extremely upset with the DNC.”

Her comments suggest that the Democratic Party’s internal challenges, coupled with its inability to address donor concerns, could lead to more high-profile defections.

Li has not shied away from likening her departure to escaping an oppressive environment. “Leaving the Democratic Party was like leaving a cult,” she declared. She described the fallout as intense, with public shaming and ostracization becoming regular features of her life.

In a recent Fox Business interview, Li criticized Vice President Harris, claiming her rumored political aspirations for 2028 or a potential California governorship would be met with widespread rejection. “America has said, ‘We don’t want Kamala Harris. We don’t want failed border policies,’” Li said.

Despite the backlash, Li has expressed optimism about her role in Trump’s upcoming administration and the future of the country. She believes that Trump’s return to the Oval Office will usher in a “new era of prosperity” for the American economy.

“You can just feel it,” she said. “And I’m sorry, I’m speaking as a Democrat myself—this brings me no joy to say it—but I feel like Democrats are going to be consigned to the wilderness for at least the next four to eight years.”

Unsurprisingly, Li’s decision has drawn criticism from her former Democratic colleagues. Many have accused her of abandoning the party at a critical juncture and leveraging her grievances for personal gain.

However, Li remains undeterred. In her view, the Democratic Party’s repeated failures—particularly its inability to connect with voters on critical issues like the border crisis and economic stability—have rendered it incapable of leading.

“The stench of loser surrounds them,” she quipped.

As a member of Trump’s inaugural committee, Li is already making waves in her new political role. Her outspoken criticism of the Democratic Party and her transition to supporting Trump highlight the shifting dynamics in American politics.

Li’s journey underscores a broader narrative of disillusionment among some Democratic donors and operatives. Whether her move signals a larger trend or remains an isolated event, it has undoubtedly added fuel to the ongoing debate about the future direction of the Democratic Party.

For Lindy Li, the choice is clear. “I’m done with them,” she said unequivocally. As she steps into her new role, she appears ready to embrace a political identity that aligns with her evolving beliefs, no matter how controversial her decision may seem to her former allies.
