Former Clinton campaign adviser Dick Morris recently shared a bold prediction: Donald Trump is heading toward an “electoral landslide” against Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election. Speaking on The Jeff Katz Show, Morris anticipated what he called an “absolute wipeout,” suggesting that Trump’s potential victory could be even more decisive than in 2016.
In the interview, Morris, a political strategist with deep experience, offered insights into how he believes Trump’s campaign will fare in key swing states and the broader electoral map. “I think Trump is going to win, and I don’t think it’s going to be that close,” he said. While he acknowledged that the popular vote could be a narrow win for Trump, he expects that it would convert to a decisive victory in the Electoral College.
Looking back at 2016, Morris noted how Trump defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with what he describes as an electoral “wipeout” despite losing the popular vote by approximately 2.6%. He believes this pattern will repeat, with Trump likely sweeping the crucial swing states. “I think Trump is going to carry all of the swing states, with the possible exception of Wisconsin,” he added.
Morris highlighted specific states he predicts will secure Trump’s path to victory: Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. If Trump performs well in these states, he could well gain over 360 electoral votes—a significant margin over Harris, whom Morris expects to gain around 100 electoral votes. This level of disparity, he said, would result in an “absolute wipeout.”
The discussion also touched on the possibility of surprise wins in traditionally blue states, such as Virginia and Minnesota. Katz himself shared a “sneaking suspicion” that Trump could take Virginia, and Morris agreed, noting a “very good chance” Trump could secure a win there.
As the conversation shifted to Congress, Katz asked Morris whether Trump’s potential success could have a “down-ballot” impact, helping the GOP retain or even expand its majorities in the House and Senate. Morris expressed confidence, predicting that Trump would “clearly keep the House” and likely add five to ten seats to the Republican margin. In the Senate, Morris sees an opportunity for the GOP to pick up additional seats, with West Virginia and Montana looking “very safe” for Republican candidates, and Ohio as another possible GOP win.
Polling data, particularly from Michigan and Wisconsin, have reportedly looked “very positive” for Trump, according to Morris. He stopped short of predicting definite wins in these states, however, saying that while Trump could come “very close,” the outcomes might still go either way. “He’ll come very close, and he may well win them,” Morris said, noting that these races are “hanging by one point,” where incumbents polling under 50% could face voter resistance, particularly among undecideds.
“If your opponent is under 50%, which most of these incumbents are, the undecided usually breaks against [them],” he explained, likening voter indecision to “saying you can’t be married to the same woman next year.” For Morris, this dynamic may indicate discontent with Democratic incumbents, giving Republicans a potential advantage.
Morris estimated that in these closely contested Senate races, Republicans could gain five to six seats if trends hold. Even with a modest Senate majority, he argued, a Trump victory would mean strong GOP control, given that Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, would ensure another reliable Republican vote. This advantage, Morris contends, would stand even if Republicans did not win additional Senate seats, including in reliably conservative West Virginia.
In a light-hearted close to the interview, Katz asked Morris about Trump’s recent shift to fast-food appearances and his stunt with a garbage truck—both moments where Trump mocked criticisms labeling him as “out-of-touch” or elitist. According to Morris, Trump’s ability to make such appearances resonates with his supporters and counters efforts from the Harris campaign to frame him as an aloof billionaire. “Trump looks great,” Morris stated, noting that Harris’s attempts to cast him as disconnected from ordinary Americans are, in his view, falling flat.
As Election Day nears, Morris’s forecast adds an intriguing perspective to the race. Morris’s view of a Republican-dominated Congress and a Trump landslide reflects his belief that the Harris campaign faces challenges in energizing undecided voters and overcoming sentiment in key swing states. Whether his predictions come true, they underscore the dynamics both campaigns will need to address in the final days of the race.
While some analysts argue that close polling suggests a competitive race, Morris sees a potential for Republicans to capitalize on voter discontent and recent Democratic incumbents’ vulnerabilities. By projecting a landslide victory for Trump, Morris foresees not only a decisive outcome in the Electoral College but also a strengthened Republican grip in Washington.
In what may be one of the most polarized elections in recent history, Morris’s confident prediction of a Trump landslide has already made waves. Whether his outlook materializes or not, his perspective on the political landscape provides a dramatic preview of what could unfold on Election Day, as the nation watches to see if his forecast becomes a reality.
Do not predict a landslide. This is fantasy. Just pray for a win to deliver us from the destructive policies of the current administration and permit us the freedom to pursue
a lifestyle of significance.
Yes! Amen.
