The Department of Homeland Security says U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has deported more than 2,000 known or suspected terrorists from the United States since President Donald Trump returned to office in January 2025, according to figures the agency provided to Fox News Digital ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
DHS said ICE arrested more than 2,150 known or suspected terrorists between January 20, 2025, and September 9, 2026, and deported 2,015 of them during that same period.
“As we reflect on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the brave men and women of ICE continue to carry out their duty to protect the homeland and keep the American people safe,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in the department’s announcement.
DHS also highlighted several deportation cases involving individuals with criminal records, drawn from agency press materials.
Heriton Aredes, an illegal immigrant from Brazil, was deported on August 26. His record includes convictions for assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, operating recklessly, and use of a motor vehicle without authority, along with an arrest for motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation. DHS says he entered the country illegally at an unknown date and location, was ordered removed by a Department of Justice immigration judge on June 16, 2008, and was deported on October 14, 2008, before illegally re-entering the United States, a felony offense.
Juan Hortencio Palacios-Gomez, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, was deported on August 24. His record includes convictions for felony domestic abuse-child endangerment, cruelty to juveniles, domestic abuse-battery by strangulation, and simple kidnapping, as well as arrests for possession of Schedule II narcotics, reckless operation of a vehicle, simple battery, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer, and speeding. DHS says he entered the country illegally at an unknown date and location, was ordered removed by a Department of Justice immigration judge on February 16, 2024, and was deported on March 21, 2024, before illegally re-entering the United States, also a felony.
DHS says the deportation effort is ongoing.
