Matt Gaetz has sent a letter to AG Bill Barr in which he makes a criminal referral against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for lying to congress and materially impeding their investigation into censorship.

Gaetz cited Zuckerberg’s testimony before Congress in which he repeatedly denied that Facebook censors conservatives and Republicans for their beliefs alone.

Gaetz also cited videos made by Project Veritas in which high ranking members involved in determining what content cannot be allowed and how the moderators are heavily biased against conservatives.

In April of 2018, Zuckerberg testified under oath and under the threat of perjury that Facebook does not target content favorable to President Trump. Nor do they censor or hide content coming from Republican candidates. But, we now know that was a lie and Gaetz is asking Bill Barr to investigate and charge Zuckerberg for his prevarications.

Gaetz wrote in his letter to the Attorney General:

“Oversight is an essential part of Congress’ constitutional authority. As a member of this body, I question Mr. Zuckerberg’s veracity and challenge his willingness to cooperate with our oversight authority, diverting congressional resources during time-sensitive investigations, and materially impede our work. Such misrepresentations are not only unfair, they are potentially illegal and fraudulent.”

“This alone is already an indication of bias within the platform. Additionally, these facts are in direct contrast to Mr. Zuckerberg’s testimony before Congress where he stated under oath that Facebook is a politically-neutral platform and that he personally is working to root out any employees who are restricting speech based on Silicon Valley’s overwhelmingly leftist culture.”

Recently, the employees at Facebook have been trying to force Zuckerberg to censor even more than the outrageously high volume of banned conservative content that he has already allowed happening.

This is something that is happening a lot these days. Employees trying to dictate what the company can and can’t do and who the company can and can’t do business with. If it were my company, there would be a large number of former employees in the unemployment line.

I just hope that AG Bill Barr has the guts to bring charges not only against Facebook but other social networks as well.
