The Senate Homeland Security Committee, led by Sen Ron Johnson has subpoenaed Stefan Halper. Assuming he testifies, this could be huge if he answers the questions.

But don’t expect that to happen. I believe Halper will be reciting the 5th Amendment if he shows up at all.

Halper was hired by the Obama/Biden administration to spy on the Trump campaign. But, the question remains is whether he will testify either by not showing up or taking the 5th.

If he does talk, he could blow this whole thing wide open because he would have to admit that he was told to plant Russia hacking accusations.

Halper, a longtime FBI confidential human source (CHS),  met with at least three members of the Trump campaign. He was right in the middle of almost everything. If he were to answer truthfully, it would put pressure on future witnesses.

They would have to be careful not to perjure themselves, while at the same time, not admitting any crimes.

The subpoena seeks Halper’s documents related to Crossfire Hurricane, a Justice Department inspector general’s (IG) investigation. Those documents would be important to have when questioning Halper. But if Biden wins in November you can forget this investigation because it would be all over.

From The Daily Caller

Halper agreed to help the FBI in the investigation, and met with Page at his home in Virginia on Aug. 20, 2016, according to the IG report.

Halper reached out to Papadopoulos on Sept. 1, 2016 under the guise of discussing an academic paper on energy issues in the Mediterranean Sea. Halper offered the Trump adviser $3,000 to meet in London to discuss writing the paper. The pair met on Sept. 15, 2016. Halper was accompanied by an undercover government agent who went by the name Azra Turk.

While he served as an FBI informant, Halper received more than $1 million in contracts from the Pentagon’s think tank, the Office of Net Assessment, to write policy papers  on geopolitical issues in China, India and Russia. Senate Republicans have questioned Halper’s relationship with ONA and its director, James Baker.

It will be interesting to see if Halper testifies but if he does testify, how accurate will his answers be?
