When you die, one of two things are likely to happen. You’re either going to be buried in a casket or you’re going to be cremated and something will be done with your remains.

Personally, I choose to be buried in a casket, but if you’re a California resident, you’ll soon have a third option. You can get your raw body chunked into some dirt to become compost.

According to ABC 7,

Starting in 2027, a different burial method will be available for Californians after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that allows human composting.

AB 351, introduced by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens), allows for the method in which human remains naturally decompose over a 30-to-45-day period and are turned into a soil. That human-composted soil can then be returned to the deceased’s family or donated to conservation land.

Supporters say it’s an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional end-of-life options.

California will join four other states in the country – Washington, Colorado, Oregon and Vermont – in allowing human composting.

Micah Truman, CEO of Return Home in Washington, said human composting is an eco-friendly option.

“One cremation takes about 30 gallons of fuel to complete and blows 530 pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere,” Truman said.

He said human remains are placed in a vessel where the body is transformed into soil in 60 days.

“When it’s done we have soil that we give back to the family. The family can put it anywhere they want. The rules are identical to that of cremated remains,” Truman said.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this, but doesn’t it just seem like…sacrilege or something? Human life is sacred and it doesn’t seem like the vessels we carry that life in should be treated better than that? Or maybe it’s just because that’s how our culture is today.

What do you think? Is this a good idea, or a bad idea? Why?

  • This has nothing to do with the environment because EVERYTHING these criminals do in the name of the environment does MORE to damage the environment. This is all about a total disregard for human life and respect for what that life meant. Understand their goal is to OWN everything and that means 75% of all land and to seal that land from all human presence. THIS IS DOCUMENT FACT. WAKE UP. The people of CA need to go on a self imposed lock down and shut down that state and throw ALL of their legislators out of office and revise how elections are done in their state. And NEVER NEVER allow them to roll over your rights again. But unless the people of CA stand up and fight back their state will be relegated to the bowels of hell.

  • How do you get 530 pounds of CO2 out of 30 gallons of fuel and one dead person? How do you even weigh CO2? I am very suspicious when someone throws numbers out like this to support some point of view. Also, is this a joke? Who wants their loved one composted and then sent back to tham as dirt? This is some sick stuff!

    • NO! this is not some sick stuff… THIS IS SOME SICK CRAZY ASS PEOPLE!!!
This is what the west coast gets for not getting rid of Pelosi’s little Lap Dog when they had the chance…

  • Somehow composting my remains after I die seems a lot more rational than getting pickled and canned. I like the idea of returning the elements I have borrowed to live back to the biosphere. After death I certainly will not need them.

  • If there’s a majority of people in Commifornia who oppose this Demonic act and I mean Newsom is an Evil Demonic piece of shit then they need to force his ass and all Communist Democrats to be removed by force or deadly force if necessary.
