CZ Firearms Launches New Duty 9mm Pistol After Months of Field Testing

CZ Firearms officially released its new Duty 9mm pistol on October 6, 2026, a striker-style handgun built around a cold hammer-forged barrel and a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame.

The Duty includes deep slide serrations designed to maintain grip in wet or muddy conditions, along with an updated grip texture CZ has not used on previous models. The controls are ambidextrous, and the slide carries a nitride finish intended to resist corrosion in harsh environments.

For safety, the pistol relies on a three-stage drop safety system, and buyers also have the option to purchase a version with an external manual safety. The Duty ships optics-ready; the test model used by reviewers was fitted with a Vortex DEFENDER-ST red dot sight.

Breitbart News was among a small group of media outlets given early access to handle and fire the Duty in August 2026, two months ahead of the public release. According to that outlet’s review, hundreds of rounds were fired through the pistol during an outdoor range session in humid conditions in Louisiana without a single misfire or mechanical malfunction.

Follow-up testing took place at the Scottsdale Gun Club in Arizona, where reviewers reported repeated bullseye hits on paper targets at distances of 15, 20, and 25 feet. Other shooters who handled the pistol during those range visits reportedly commented favorably on its accuracy, trigger feel, and balance.

The CZ Duty is now available for purchase through CZ Firearms and its retail partners.
