Crockett Faces Backlash From Fellow Democrat Over Endorsement List Snubbing Talarico

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, is facing public criticism from a former Democratic colleague after her political action committee released an endorsement list that did not include James Talarico, the party’s nominee for U.S. Senate in Texas.

Talarico defeated Crockett in the Democratic Senate primary earlier this year, winning 52.4% to 46.2%. He was absent from a list of 14 candidates endorsed Monday by Crockett’s Feuling Individual Rights Everywhere (FIRE) PAC. Gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa was also left off the list.

Former Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa., who served three terms in Congress, responded on X with sharp criticism of Crockett.

“F*** her. That’s all I can say. And that statement has nothing to do with blind loyalty to Dems,” Wild wrote. “It has everything to do with her being a narcissistic drama queen who has used her platform (such as it is) only to advance herself. Karma will suck.”

Crockett pushed back against Wild and other critics on X, pointing out she had congratulated Talarico following the primary.

“Y’all are corny! Keep receipts. I’ll be happy when people either give a damn about FACTS or news media goes back to the news instead of deciding to ride the tabloid lane. NOW FOR THE 1000th time maybe write an article about KEN F*in PAXTON. Y’all sound like corny groupies,” Crockett wrote.

The day after the primary results were finalized, Crockett had posted a message endorsing Talarico and calling for party unity.

“This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee. Texas is primed to turn blue, and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person. This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track. With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win,” Crockett wrote. “I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”

Crockett’s FIRE PAC has raised $144,960 to date and has largely directed its support toward state and local candidates rather than statewide races. All 14 candidates named in Monday’s endorsement list are running for state or local office.

The dispute is the latest in a string of controversies surrounding Crockett, a progressive lawmaker known for combative rhetoric. She has previously referred to Gov. Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, as “Governor Hot Wheels,” described Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., using derogatory physical language, and drew criticism for entering singer Chris Brown into the congressional record despite his history of violence against women.

Representatives for Crockett did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
